I'm back from the drink ;-)

I don't think you can argue that the other way; in fact you can, but you shouldn't imo. We have freedom of speech - although not absolute - and some cartoonist put some pictures in a Danish newspaper. That is an example of one of our values.

I am not a proponent of arguing the other way around either. Point of stating that you could argue the other way around is that it no matter how much you believe in your own values, you have to be extremely careful when you want to enforce this upon others.
Rubinho... one slovak man explain us this problem very well in our national forum and I must agree.

Slovaks lived 60 years in communism with ugly media propaganda...then we have got nice democracy system and media are lying us again :-( so we are learning more than half of century not just believe everything what is in the media and we learned read "between lines", we learned finding true in various and different media (by comparing various version and "facts"), we need have our eyes open and not just be blind are believe what whatever government is telling us.

Western countries have democratic system for maybe one century or more, so you have just one ideology, one truth and most of western people are lazy to study more information (more = I mean from various resources, not just from your country), they just believe to their own media and they are happy.

Please, try to find free time yourself and watch this film, which is about propaganda and how media can be useful more that weapons :-) (this kind of propaganda does not works for eastern countries, but film is about media propaganda in US or western civilizations :-) )
(just click play, web is slovak, and you can find that video on youtube maybe, but this one is without parts, all is in one film together, it is in english of course)

And that is result why we have different opinions :-).

Or you guys question everything to much as you could never believe the news before ;) Questioning everything can also help to come to somekind of western EU/US conspiracy theory.

So basically you want to tell us that people from Western countries believe any crap that the media or the government is throwing at us?

Weren't you the one that said that in a discussion one side shouldn't claim that the other side has no brains?
We never had such an amount of propaganda as you (better: your ancestors) got for decades. I don't use only sources of Belgium, I read English, French and American sources very often. Eastern European is more difficult because of language barriers (I speak Dutch, English, French and a little bit of German).

yes... but you change it now....

I just said, that what I hear about differences in western and eastern thinking is the fact, that eastern thinking is forced to find as many facts/opinions/resource as they can and western thinking is just "at home" with home media.

Of course you media has better quality than ours !! but we are orientated more to wide information as you maybe.

no offence, just as Rubinho said, eastern people has different thinking... this is maybe reason. but really no offence and this has nothing about brain ...just style of thinking maybe.. in good meaning...
Rubinho, I agree with you !

Belgium, I read English, French and American sources very often.

try read Russian, Asians, south america and other news maybe :-) a lot of slovaks websites are translating opinions from other part of world.... but western people think that all behind their frontiers is crap :-(

If I say it bad and I offend you sorry... I just want tell something about different history and maybe different position to media.. and Rubinho agree that he read just western news.

Do you know the 'Courrier International" it's a newspaper in french which is published every week.

They take articles from all over the world and translate them into french. I'm pretty confident that rubinho reads that newspaper.

The percentage of europeans that can read chinese, vietnamese, indonese, arabic,.. is small.
2011-03-24 23:10:32
I dont know 'Courrier International", but I am adding it to tens of my daily newspaper...thx
2011-03-24 23:11:34

Mostly AJE - Al Jazeera English when it's about the middle east, I think that 1 is the best.
