our childeren will be reading about Putin's 1 march 2014 attack against Ukraine which we just witenesed, like we read about Hitler's 1st of septemper 1939 attack on Poland.
I liken Putin invasion of Crimea to when Hitler took over Austria in 1938.
If Putin takes over eastern Ukraine, I would liken that to Hitler taking the Sudentenland (of Czechoslovakia) in 1939.

Regards oil, it would be realy devastating for Russia, Europe has some reserves and options. It would be painful but definately worthy and moral, if would be sanctions targeted on right persons.
Over 30% and just under 40% of the European oil and gas imports come from from Russia. I can only hope that those reserves and options (what options?) are massive if that trade would be stopped.
About Iran: well, it's not that important in this discussion.

NOT clear to me how is is Obama is a mass murderer.
Ask the Pakistani people.
Ask the Pakistani people.
What is your source of international law for self-determination?
Well, if Crimea would ask for independence after a democratic vote, then Ukraine will have to have very good arguments to stop that from happening. UN resolution 1514.

And the statement of Kerry is just laughable. The Americans are still searching for those weapons of mass destruction they officially invaded Iraq for.
They were moved first to Libya, after revolution to Egypt and now they are in Syria. Americans are close in tracking them:)

not good post.
1968 russian army take over Czechoslovakia, people hate them and were angry on them.
Next tens years they were trying boycott that regime. Inhabitants were speaking about occupation.
2014 majority on the Crimea are glad that russian forces came to protect them because current problems made the situation there worse. They are speaking now about independence of Crimea and good relations with russia.
this is the reality, it doesnt matter that polish people hate russian, facts are facts :-)

IMHO we need strong military reaction and economical sanctions.
LOL... Putin already said that Ukraine will pay market price for oil from april 2014. This is result of such a sanctions. This will totally destroy Ukraine and inhabitants can start thinking about emigration :-).
But is Putin forced to give them friendly special price ? No, everybody has right have just market price!
And EU has same problem. EU could have Lybia oil but now there are terrorist after EU destroy that country so no oil from lybia is possible now. EU need russia oil too (norway or GB oil is not enough)

Europe needs oil more than Russia needs the money. I'm pretty damned sure about that. Economic sanctions are only given to genuinely evil regimes, like North Korea or Iran. Russia is - even with this Crimea invasion - far away from that.
thx for this post..very good !

Oil and gas make up over 50% of Russia's government revenue. Close the pipeline and they lose a lot of money
Not true, Chine needs much more oil that they can get now from russia :-)

Actually, China will be careful to make itself more dependant from Russia. Also, Russia can't simply shift their oil and gas exports to the east, the pipeline infrastructure there is nowhere near the capacity towards Europe. But let's be honest, Europe needs Russia's oil, and Russia needs the money. So nothing is going to happen on that front. In fact, the EU has nothing in hand against Russia. They should better watch not to become the US's marionette in their Russia policy (fuck the EU, you know).
You are such a damn hypocrite, unbelievable. I can't believe you can take yourself serious!
When it's about the US and EU, it's always about oil, money and how bad they are and destroy countries. Now it's about your beloved corrupt comrade Russia and you start to look for nuances and support the invader. Un-f*****-believable!!
And you dare to call yourself objective when it's about this kind of news. Go fool someone else!
