It's fun to make him guess :p

The strangest part is that Ukraine gave up his nuclear arsenal because his sovereignty has been granted by NATO and...Russia?
2014-03-04 20:19:52
How about indians in USA or chines in USA :-D or catalans, scots in EU... i am NOT supporter of such a independences !!

But EU and US like it, as we could see in case of Yugoslavia or Kosovo or ....

as I told... we here, in central europe we know very well how polish people dont like russians :-D (and germans). So you opinion is just biased. Sorry :-) but I have more polish friends, I know what is going on when you speak about russia :-)
2014-03-04 20:27:37
I have nothing against Russians or Germans, as individuals :).

I have nothing against Germany as well :P

I have a lot against Russia, because they still consider Poland as a territory that should belong to their Imperium.

I can't imagine Germany invading Poland nowadays, I can easily see Russia doing that :P.

Yep! And you can replace 'Poland' by 'former USSR territory' .... :/

EDIT: eeuhh btw, HOPEFULLY only 'former USSR territory' and not 'former nazi territory', in case madman Putin becomes a bit too ambitious :P

So you, as a Slovakian, cannot in any way be unbiased about the Hungarian minority in Southern Slovakia? Nice that you finally admit that ;-)

It's stupid to say a Pole can never be unbiased when Russia is involved.

That being said, it's also stupid to think that Russia might actually consider invading a member of the EU.
2014-03-04 20:54:14
It might sound stupid now, but with Belarus and Russia on eastern border? I don't think so.

It seemed stupid in '38 to consider Germany or Russia trying to take over Poland.

Step by step. If the western world won't act now which such actions taken by Russia on Ukraine, then it will seem like an open invitation to go further west.

Would you imagine 3 months ago the situation that we have now on Ukraine? No, you'd say that it's impossible and stupid.

I understand your fear. Like I said before, I can understand that the Polish people don't have a lot of confidence in support from Western Europe when they're being invaded.

But seriously, if one country would invade any former Soviet or Soviet sphere country that is nowadays part of the EU (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, ...), that would be an invitation for Western Europe (and non-European Anglosaxon world) to use military force. Putin is not that stupid. He is very aware of what he's doing.

One cannot possibly compare Ukraine (of which large parts are in majority Russian) with Poland.
And one cannot possibly compare this Crimean/Ukrainian crisis with Sudetenland in 1938.

Yes. But the question is whether there would be a military reaction, or not. Nobody wants a full-scale war. On the other hand I don't think that Germany would be keen to see Russia as their neighbour :).

If the west will leave Ukraine to Russia [not only Crimea] in hopes that 'it ends there', then it will be exactly the same scenario as pre-WW II.

I doubt that Russia will try something on Poland but you can't dismiss such scenario :P.

Putin is not that stupid. He is very aware of what he's doing.

Of course he is not stupid, he is probably the best leader in Europe. And that is why he is dangerous.

One cannot possibly compare Ukraine (of which large parts are in majority Russian) with Poland.

I'm not comparing them. I'm saying that with weak reaction from the West, Putin will be the winner.
I can be biased in case of Hungary
I don't argue with you.

Russia invading Poland....not possible, you are biased .

Maybe pobalt countries or ukrajine or so, but not poland, it is not early 20century now
2014-03-04 21:41:48
You learned a new word: biased? And because you are, everyone else is also biased?
2014-03-04 21:41:55
Your rhetoric:

Russia invading Poland not possible? You are biased.
2014-03-04 21:46:10
Yes. But the question is whether there would be a military reaction, or not. Nobody wants a full-scale war. On the other hand I don't think that Germany would be keen to see Russia as their neighbour :).

Not that I can give guarantees, but the chances of a Russian invasion in Poland are a good approximation of zero.

Of course he is not stupid, he is probably the best leader in Europe. And that is why he is dangerous.

I shouldn't have directed that at you alone. What I meant was that Putin is smart enough not to involve other countries directly into this conflict, by invading Poland or whatever other Eastern European country.

The point is that a lot of people I spoke with about this conflict seem to think that Putin is crazy. That he has lost his senses. He hasn't. He's got a plan, and he's being busy putting that into reality. With success.

Edit: Let's remember Sting's words on the Russians ;-)
