I can understand those Russians, who don't want Ukraine anymore. The whole Ukrainian elite is responsible for this mess. Kuchma, Timoshenko, Yanukovich were all corrupt, incapable leaders, caring only about the wealth of their clan. Ukraine is like Yeltsin-era Russia, nothing works well. It was also a retarded decision, when the new provisional government's first act was to restrict the Russians national rights. So that's one side of the problem.

Russia seems to do better than Ukraine, but it's partially because of oil and gas, and partially because Putin has managed to centralize the same system, by the cost of less freedom rights. Now they can somewhat control their own mafia, but it's still a mafia-state. And I will never admit that the side which arrests (sometimes even murders) journalists and OSCE inspectors represents freedom.

An other thing is shale gas. Ukraine has a lot of deposit around the Kharkiv-Donetsk region (what a coincidence!). In other European countries, locals don't want to exploit shale gas, because it damages environment, and can cause earthquakes. But Ukrainians were eager to do so, because Russians were toying with them a lot in the past. American and European companies already got rights to seek for gas. Some said that Ukraine could become self sustainable, and net exporter until 2020. Obviously Russians don't want to let this happen.

I have no proof, but I'm sure that CIA, Mosad, MI6, GRU, FSB, whatever are all there with loads of agents. No way there are only Western and no Russian agents in the background of this. It seems to me that it's the good old great powers having fun with the lives of millions game, and the Russians are winning this round, so they have a good time. I just hope they won't raise the stakes too high.

You have bad information, probably mistake of controlled media what you read :-). It was about twice, but ok i am not sure and this is not important. What important is that Russia did not make triple price, Russia just cancel huge discount which Ukraine got. Friend of Russia are getting huge gas discount, for example Slovakia is getting price which is much higher that Ukraine got because we have market prices :-).

And dont remember that one of condition of funds from EU or IMF (doesnt matter) is make double gas price. So this your argument was really ridiculous :-).

OK, sorry, a lot of new independent areas dont want join russia as a new country but they want independence and their own state without Kiev's mafia.

So ukraine if good for EU just because "we" can destroy foreign country by so much dangerous gas mining. Ukraine under Russia would have cheap gas so the country can still hold its beauty and health environment (ok, except Cernobyl problem :-D).
Btw, EU need a place for nulclear waste and area around cernobyl can not be damage more, so it will be suitable place. I just dont know if I should be proud that this storage of nucl. waste would help even for Slovakia, we dont know where give it too......

In the past few months, i've seen russian forces deployed over Crimeea, prior to annexation, russian threatenings to invade Ukraine, Russia annexing a region, Russia holding war-games two kilometers from the Ukraine border, russian economy measures against Ukraine and Russia continuously destabilizing a sovereign country and pushing them into a civil war. Not to mention Russia constantly taunting Nato forces in the Black Sea and provoking usa destroyers. And you still blame the west. There are men with the guns a mile from the border, and you blame somebody 15,000 kilometers further away. I have the sensation that you dont see the forest cause of the tree, but its your opinion, i respect that. I was just curious what western powers do wrong, or what should they do in the current situation, in your opinion?

I personally find it annoying that UN does nothing, like always. They were created specially for these kind of situations, they should've deployed blue helmets there on an instant, these veto powers and all that shit drives me crazy. We will never learn how to avoid a freaking war...

Of course, and if they do something, Putin didn't approve, Russians just stop the gas anytime, or double the prices. It worked out so well before (for the Russians). Ukraine is like a drug addict, and Russia is the dealer, who can and is willing to force the addict to do whatever it wants.

Russian by nationality but ukrainian by citizenship. And what to say, it is normal if your government want hurt you that you will defend. = if they shoot down helicopters and kidnap people, burn buildings, then yes it is normal, for Kiev to use force, they have the right and duty! to protect and defend ukrainian citizens in Ukraine, from terror and violence of persons of any nationality (russian or ukrainian).

change two words "continuing unrest" for "continuing defend" and you will get the point. = yes, if you change words then it will mean something completely different :-], and with your change again it would not be true, russian separatists are not defending anything, there is no russia, "novarossiya" to "defend" in ukraine, they attack ukrainian gov.buildings, army helicopters and people, including foreign observers.

On your last point we can agree to some extent!, Ukraine has its troubles to sort out, like the fall of the corrupt president that happend in feburary.

As for the pro-russian "ukrainians" there is a simple anwser, leave ukraine go to russia... don't start violent conflicts, or at least go to the stolen crimea, where Putin is inviting everyone, and giving away russian nationality... unfortunately for another reason - hitler-like retoric to provoke unrest and a possibly war... and "defending russians" abroad.

PS: in conclusion, most of what you write is nonsense. And there is one more interesting thing, why? why defend russia? especially when the case is so obvious, as the flag on the crimean mast. Which was changed from ukrainian to russian, by a masked military invasion.

Russia's state-controlled company Gazprom has raised the cost of gas to Ukraine by 81% to $485.50 (£292.86, 354.33 euros) from $268.50 for 1,000 cubic metres, and now, since the begining of the conflict, russia are threatening to switch it off, this may, now its june, just before or just after the election (which russia already discredits anyway), to any normal thinking individual it is more that obvious that every russian/pro-russian move in ukraine is pre-planned, by a long way... in moscow. I would guess Putin is stalling the "gas threat" to use it just before winter, for it to be the biggest blow to ukrainian gov.

Russian forces were there many years before, so this is lie. The fact that before referendum they helped to have free referendum in whole Crimea is not occupation :-).

Again lie. If more than 90% people want join russia, it is not annexation. Of course, the world dont allow to any weak nation have independence (Basque, Scots or anybody) is "ok" when owner country is not making problem to that group and Kiev did it.
"ok" is relative, who set up that rules that in 21 century some nations can have independence and another can (croatia or Serbia or Kosovo or so).

Yes, it is Russia and they have there bases. It is very funny that west is telling to Russia where they can have their own armies on their own land :-D.

What would be your opinion on Russia command that NATO had to cancel several bases which are close to russia, for example in Poland or so ? That would be same... ok not same, Poland is not USA territory :-)

First, west had to say strongly STOP when it starts and such a plans was made. Maidan was second try, orange revolution was before. We dont have right for aggresive expansion policy just because we are stonger (in nuclear weapons will be used, nobody is stronger or weaker, we all will die ! )

Look on problems when USA is phone-tapping western leaders. This is not acceptable and what did the west ? Just some jokes and nobody give strong warning to USA, cos such a practice can start cold wars or wars.

Nobody forces them ask for cheap oil. Look, we dont very much like Russians maybe because 1968 in Slovakia. (OK, 50% still like that era now when we are in EU much more than in 1989 :-) )

Look, if you can have discount you had to listen. For example, we in Slovakia had to listen EU also in areas where we are strongly against ! But EU can cut off or drop down our EUfonds, so we had to listen and we can say "no" but we had to sign everything.

This is the world, weak are conquered and had to listen, Slovakia would die in isolation. We choose another evil in 2004 but I suppose EU is still better that Russian regtime was. Problem is, that idea of EU, principles by which EU started exist are now different and EU in past decades was different than it is now. I like EU but I like EU which is going to change so it will be common area and not just strong states with benefits and weak states as slave states.

I believe that guys from the Greece love EU too :-D
