Subject: »NEWS AROUND THE WORLD

Meanwhile, it's business as usual in the European Union. Jean-Claude Juncker, also known as The Drunkard, has been 'chosen' to lead the European Commission. The only positive thing about Juncker is that he is not Verhofstadt.

I'm happy that the EPP and the ALDE (which is now only the fourth group, as the ECR has risen to 70 seats) have lost the elections, but unfortunately, nothing is going to change.

Pls, go there and you will be surprised!

No thanks, I love the safety of my country. But maybe you should go, apparently you are way more interested in the whole situation as others on this forum.

No thanks, I love the safety of my country.

I can understand it. It is and it always was much easier dont care about cruel reality outside of safe borders :-). But the problem is that your country is by its finance (as the rest of EU of course) supported these attacks. Without our money Ukraine government can not make such a huge offensive. Nobody care about life of peoples who are dying cos us, EU just need make a business and all moral values about peace, right for life or true can be easily manipulated by media, cos that is what most of europeans are, sheeps :-(. It is first time when EU gives money to such huge offensive in the name "win for all cost, no matter how many of our own people will die" :-(

I care much more about human life, business or my comfort is not so important for me.

I think there would have been a major upset if Juncker wasn't put forward as president of the commission, since he was presented as one of the "top candidates" in the EU parliament election. At least that's the impression I got when browsing some german media the past weeks.
2014-07-03 19:38:25
There is not a single word in any of the treaties concerning the EU that says that parties have to present a top candidate, and that the European Council must chose one of those candidates. The European Council proposes a candidate, and the parliament must approve that candidate. There's only art. 17(7) of the TEU:

Taking into account the elections to the European Parliament and after having held the appropriate consultations, the European Council, acting by a qualified majority, shall propose to the European Parliament a candidate for President of the Commission. This candidate shall be elected by the European Parliament by a majority of its component members. If he does not obtain the required majority, the European Council, acting by a qualified majority, shall within one month propose a new candidate who shall be elected by the European Parliament following the same procedure

So yes, the European Council can chose another candidate than one of the Spitzenkandidaten. Of course, the candidate must be approved by the Parliament. What Verhofstadt and co are saying and doing is a coup. A coup in which the initiative power that - according to the TEU - clearly is in the hands of the European Council has now been de facto transferred to the European Parliament, which is not in accordance with the TEU.

Yes, there would have been a problem of perception (although of course, the EU in itself has a gigantic problem with its perception), basically because most people know shit about the functioning of the European Union. But if you want the European Parliament to decide who gets to be President of the European Council, you have to amend the TEU. Good luck with that: that must be a unanimous decision, and the British will never agree with it. So Verhofstadt and co have forced a de facto change of the TEU down the throat of the British people. Given the modest appreciation of the EU by the British people and given the fact that there might be a British referendum on the EU in 2017, that was - from a pro-European Union point of view - stupid. De facto, it's saying goodbye to the British people.

There is a reason why I'm saying that Verhofstadt is a more dangerous man than Farage, both for the European Union and European cooperation all together. I'm against the former, in favor of the latter. I hope that Verhofstadt's ambitions (and those of the people with a similar view on Europe) will kill the European Union, I just hope that he does not go that far that afterwards, European cooperation is no longer possible. I want a Europe of peace and free trade, and therefore, the European Union must be eliminated.

Yes, that damn EU and people who are glad to live in a safe country and not willing to visit war, shame on them! The rebels are all alone and no one is helping them to fight the government, all alone with their Russian tanks, anti-aircraft missiles, guns and ammunition etc etc etc killing Ukrainian soldiers and using Ukrainians as human shields. Poor rebels.

I care much more about human life, business or my comfort is not so important for me.

If I read your posts I always think 'what a nice and friendly guy that must be, caring about others and the world so much'. We should all be so glad you are in this world to tell the people on Sokker how bad the EU is .... you are our great saviour! I can't imagine what we should do without your smart words and guidance.

I have no idea what they are saying, but I 'guess' the people are better of with the army as they were as human shields for the Russian rebels .....

Only morons buy this crap...
...there are two things to take into account... both base in psychology.

A: russia is known to hire mercenaries and to pay (usually to very poor people, in need of basics like food) to protest - its a known fact, they have done it for many years... in Poland, Slovakia also... this has not changed, I cannot believe that you don't know this. If you don't believe, check it out for yourself.

B: in every conflict there are two sides.. in this case, the are the pro-russians in ukraine, and the pro-ukrainians in ukraine. As the NAMES themselves state... (pro)ukrainians have nothing to protest about! in front of their own army in their land (they can only get attacked by this kind of mob in the streets), the ukrainian army are defending them and UKRAINIAN LAND, from the likes of (pro)russian mobs... of any onter "unidentified" armies or groups, who are attacking civil servants (police, army) firstly with words... ;-) and then with anti-aircraft guns.. :-] which quickly stops being funny.

its a similar case to what is happening in Israel now... when 1 in 10 hamas bred children (8-14 years old maybe), shoot you in the face... or kills jewish soldiers or civilians, you may start looking at the threat differently, it only takes one idiot or a poor indoctrinated child to kill a person... or ten with a granade. Those idiotic phone movies about israel army detaining children "oh my god, poor childeren", are not going to prove or change anything. These are war zones.

And yes, it is a very big pity there are those conflicts in the world... and that children are detained, and that people die.. from army missiles or the odd child. And that people are upset when there are tanks in the steets instead of buses.

The only problem is in both cases.. one side's mental health problems are the root of those conflicts. In "Arab land" they have their "jihad" which has rooted hatred for jews from few hundered years ago... and poor old Putin just what's to be remembered as russia's "greats"... like the tzar, stalin or some other idiot.

Imagine this... Russian president has the power to stop this ukrainian mess, conflict with one speech and few orders.. like, withdrawal of russian army from the ukrainam borders, not intensyfieing it, and saying to russians in ukraine.. "come to russia it you are not happy abroad", as Ukrainie is and will be a sovereign country... (which is actually exactly what putin is "questioning" :-[ to say the least) ...did we hear that? no.... we got "a unidentified";-) army in Crimea... and the gunpiont "refferendum" and now we have Lugansk, Donieck and others.. with "poor pro-russians" ...but in reality, just like all the rational spectators predicted... we are continuesly looking at russian aggression and offensive, interspersed with deception... and propaganda...
- we have seen it before! many times...

And another note that a lot of people seem to forget:
there never was a state of palestine, so the term palestine occupied territory in nonsense in itself.
There was a mandate for palestane (part of british empire) from 1922 to 1948, and the was the state on israel from 1947 onwards... in 1988 the PLO self-declared a state within a state, a bit like what putin is tring to do in ukraine now... and did with crimea, but going back.. in 1967 there was a 6-day war, which arabs! not only palestinian arabs.. all arabs who attacked israel lost. for the UN to intervene again... only to prolong this conflict...

and now Putin is serving us another one....

israel

Completely different situation. Apartheid will always create new radicals, lock people up behind a wall and give them a few square miles to live on will make it even worse. No one wants to be second hand people who's freedom and human rights are in control of the enemy. And more radicals is just what israel likes, that way they have more reason to keep invading Palestina, stealing their land, killing innocent people, etc etc etc. Only a fool believes the pro-zionist news is telling the truth.

I just see one paralel. If Kosovo gained independence, why Eastern Ukraine can't?

By your logic, if Albanians did not like to live in Serbia, they could move to Albania.
2014-07-10 23:00:39
I just see one paralel ... Kosovo

If this is your parallel, maybe you need to read some more about both situations to see how much it isn't parallel :/

Living in the free world, access to all info and come up with this crap. Well done!
