I guess you can call them many things: separatists, rebels, guerrilla, secessionists, etc, etc...
But in which sense would they be "terrorists"?
Not every bad guy with a gun is a terrorist, such as not every guy with a disgusting opinion is a nazi. I mean, regardless on whether you think of them positively or negatively, they objectively don't fit the definition of terrorism. They may be criminals, but of a different crime.

I am just using the language western media are using in similar circumstances involving "rebels against central government". ;)

"Ukrainian president calls Malaysia Airlines crash a 'terrorist attack' "
Me too... I am just laughing at how the names change... I recon "novo-russian terrorists or if you prefer organized criminals... would be a term closer to the truth, rater than "freedom fighters". Anti-freedom fighters maybe.. would be suitable also... anyhow, unidentified people shooting down planes... are definatly not positive in any sense, it is not a question of my opinion.

PS: about the detinition: "they objectively don't fit the definition of terrorism."
ter·ror·ism (tr-rzm)
n.
The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

...
"western media are using in similar circumstances" similar... but different.

The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Exactly. Thus, they don't qualify as terrorists.

Terrorists are people who are attacking civilians or who use bombs for not army targets or these one who are abusing civilians for example as human shields or so maybe...

Ukraine army is attacking civilians, they are bombing whole towns, not only rebels sites and they use own inhabitants by force (kill or serve) to fight for them, no matter that they are against this private war organized by leaders after coup.

So Yes, Ukraine army is much more as terrorists imho.

No, what you describe, true or false, as bad as it may be, doesn't qualify as terrorism either.

Again, people: "terrorism" is not a synonym for "bad".

Terrorism is defined by an intention to instill fear, by a systematic use of terror (i.e., fear) as a political means. Terrorists need not to kill anyone: more than once IRA simply reported a bomb that didn't actually exist. The panic that ensued was all they wanted. Terrorist need not to target civilians: while ETA did kill civilians, their attacks on "Guardia Civil" barracks were terrorist actions on its own. The defining element is only one: the goal of creating a general fear, as a step towards some other final goal. A newspaper insisting that on December 31, 1999 computers will go all terminator on us because of some bug is more of a terrorist than a serial killer.

One is clear, its totally wrong call them separatists:

According to the "Manifesto of National Front of Liberation of Ukraine, Novorossiya and Carpathian Russia" however, these geographical boundaries are not limiting the Novorussian revolution, whose territory is considered to be "the whole Ukraine". The manifesto also redefines separatism of the Novorussian movement: it's Ukraine and Kiev government that are separatist.[18]

Russian historians Alexandr Skobov and Andrey Piontkovski pointed out that in its political features (nationalism, imperialism) it is very similar with 20th century fascist movements[19][20] (on 28 July Skorbov was attacked with knife[21]).

This concept is further explained by Alexander Borodai:

The borders of the Russian World extend significantly farther thant borders of Russian Federation. I fulfill a historic mission in the name of Russian nation, super-ethnos, unified by the Orthodox christianity. Just as in Caucasus, I'm fighting in Ukraine against separatism – this time not Chechen, but Ukrainian one. Because there is Russia, Great Russia, Russian Empire. And now Ukrainian separatists in Kiev are fighting against Russian Empire.

Sometimes I really wonder why we go on with this farce called UN...

Beside, I also think the west is isolating himself from the rest of the world...

Dude, they picked up guns and said "we don't recognize the Kiev government, we rule here". They are "intimidating the Ukrainian society", much less "the Ukrainian government". Call them "oppressors" in the territories they occupy if you want, but there is just no scope to label them terrorists. OK, unless you want to re-write the world's history as a series of terrorist movements, because hardly anyone will be outside according to you :P

They are comaprable to FARC, not to IRA. That simple.

But then again, you are falling into the ad-hominem pit again (or do you just work as advertiser for some hospital? :o) ), and I'm not following you there.

UN is a joke, always was and I don't think that will change anytime soon

Its the best what the world has.
2014-07-31 00:14:51
It is just there because something like this has to exist in a civilized world......
2014-07-31 01:29:01
dear Don Enzo... "I'm not following you there" I know, you are not... because there is nothing to follow there, I commented on the language used by gabberattack (if I am not mistaken) and the media, that is it... later I gave you a definition of terrorism... there is no "my opinion" here, at all... its only you interpretation of what you think I ment, and also your misinterpretation of the definition, which I did not invent only copied... and didn't even comment on. That's all...

If you ask me you can call them what you want: "god fearing, violence loving freedom fighters of the cccp", I coundn't care less, I just found it funny.. how some people would miss use some terms... to supposedly prove... western media bias... of course media is bias... but that doesn't mean that similar terms have the same meaning.

Oppressors, criminals.. terrorists.. whatever you call them "they picked up guns and said" this is definatly intimidating ukrainian people living there = hence society.

and some news
Russia announced a ban on most fruit and vegetable imports from Poland on Wednesday and said it could extend it to the entire EU, a move Warsaw called Kremlin retaliation for new Western sanctions over Ukraine imposed on Russia a day earlier.

Moscow, which buys more than 2 billion euros worth of EU fruit and vegetables a year making it by far the biggest export market for the produce, said the ban was for sanitary reasons and denied a link to the sanctions.
