But we have a bigger segmentation in the sense that we also have many suburbs and things like that. If there is no choice but to live in apartment that is different.
True, but only if you have money, and waited 5+ years, then you have the change to move from a (student)apartment to a house (in Utrecht this is, maybe it will be a bit different outside the center of the Netherlands).

Nice of you to say it's a guess. As it is one obviously.

Liberal thinking and a socialist government won't go together.
That's not the point, the point is I think you should should make that you have a decent housing while Charles says the government should build a decent housing for its citizens.
If the government doesn't give any permits, or doesn't give out a new land for housing, that is a problem.
True. But I don't know if that's the case. If the governments sees that new housing is needed and there is no land available, the government should sell new land of course.
Also, the real estate market is a bit slow, since it takes time before the permits are there and the houses have been built.
If the permits are given slowly, than that's a government problem. They should be able to solve that.

I know, just wanted to emphasize that there is still government involvement in a liberal system. I shouldn't have used such a bald statement here.

No, it's a private matter imo. If there is need and money for new housing, private companies will build new apartments. Why should the government do that? Here's the difference between your socialist thinking and my liberal thinking ;-)
I don't know why the private sector isn't investing more in housing. I can only speak for what I know is happening in my city. The private sector is building mainly office buildings. Thousands of square meters to rent, no 1 wants it. Those buildings are often useless. I have really no idea why, but somehow this must be a smart investment or else they are very stupid but I don't think so.
Besides, why should the private sector care who has a home or not, that is not their problem? Housing is a government problem that can be helped by the private sector if they want to invest. But it is always mainly a government problem if people can't find a good and save house and no 1 is building them fast enough.
But indeed, this can be difference in thinking :)

Housing is a government problem
Why? And at least not for everybody I guess. Or is the government also in charge when it is about villas for the rich and famous. Until a certain limit, housing is a government responsibility as we all believe that everybody should have a hom (unless you don't want to yourself), but from a certain limit people and the market can perfectly serve themselves.

I don't expect the government to build villa's no :D But if the government knows there is a shortage of 500.000 affordable houses/apartments in the Netherlands (or any other country), then they have to do something and can't wait till the market gets interested. It's indeed not about a nice car or holiday, but a home :)
Also houses in the Netherlands are often to expansive to buy for normal incomes, specially in larger cities and the villages near these cities.

That still doesn't have to mean that the government has to build these houses. It could perfectly be that the regulations are too strict. The government only can take limited risk since they are politically responsible when things go wrong.
officialy about 10% but who knows..they are migrating.
I dont think that they want live in common society with the rest of us, so you can not integrate them to "our" society.
They need just water, bread and money for leisure time and hobby... where are they living, how are they living and all questiosn about health or education is really not important for them... you can not teach them how to be like "civilized people", they live in same style of life for more then thousands years !!! In every old book, old more than thousand years you can find them and how they have lived for years....
(they just should come to europe, this is not good for they style of life :-( )

I am working in construction company... there is no problem with block of flats, or housing generelly, there is problem that "no-one" have money or loans to buy it.

Of course they don't care if people have a home or not. But companies care about profits, and building and selling houses, you do make profit with that. What the reason of building is, is not important. As long as they build houses if there's a certain demand for that. Supply and demand, a nice system you know ;-)
But it is always mainly a government problem if people can't find a good and save house
No it isn't. It's a private problem for those people. Government can't take care of everyone. Imagine all the people in a country say they need housing, and can't do that for themselves, then what you're gonna do?

Nice these companies makes profits, good for the economy, but the fact is it's not going fast enough. To many people are still waiting for a (better) affordable house :) The more the private sector builds, the better it can be, but that doesn't mean less responsibility for the government to take care of the problem.

This is exactly what is happening for over many decades now. And looking at the numbers how many new buildings should be finished and how many actually are build, the problem is becoming larger. And the market is building more empty office buildings, that is also the responsibility of the local governments to make good plans so this can't happening.
