Are you sure??
Yes. I am very aware of what I don't know.
And then the answer 'I have no idea what you're talking about.' without a 'why', that's also a bit strange ....
Wait, what?
What's wrong with my sentence? Where would you put 'why'?

I can't really explain. It's a feeling that you can get when someone answers your question a little bit too unguilty. As I said, it's a feeling so it could be my own projection of how I would have reacted.
Anyway, it all looks so familiar, and apparently I'm not the only one ;) But as I already posted, I hope I'm wrong and the forum stays nice and friendly :)

Is this leftist-rightist distinction supposed to be a joke? Ideologies have many aspects, you cannot describe them in 2 dimensions. It's like thinking only in black and white or in good and evil.
Fascism is a lefist, liberalism is a rightist. That's the end of discussion, and funny comparision first ideology to second.

According to the conventional spectrum, fascism is far-rightist, liberalism is somewhere in the centre. This spectrum originates from the French revolution's parliament, and it's generally based on the social base of each ideology. Leftist ideologies represent the lower stratas, rightist ideologies represent the higher ones. As fascism is a straight descendent of reactionism, it has conventionally became a far rightist ideology along with monarchism. In everyday life, most people use this, as a spectrum, when they talk about politics.
Of course nowadays there are many other spectrums and indicators. Political compass is a popular one, with it's two axis. And I guess you've picked the x (economic) axis. I'm just guessing, you could pick many other spectrums, you could even invent a new one for yourself. But in this one liberalism is rightist indeed, and fascist dictatorships are usually on the left side, as they were mostly using state-capitalist or corporativist economic systems. However Pinochet's fascist dictatorhip was using a neo-liberal economic system for more than a decade, proving that fascism can work together with free market for quite some time.
Now, people find different things funny. For me it's funny that you pick a half-spectrum from many, and you state that everything else from your favourite half-spectrum is funny.

Left vs. right is only for those small-minded people who can't see the third way of politics: classical liberalism. I oppose both right-wing and left-wing; I prefer knowing. A better way to map the different political positions is the Nolan-chart, which reflects that rightist support economic freedom (relatively low taxes, deregulation, ...) while opposing personal freedom (like euthanasia, drugs, ...) while leftists support those personal freedoms while opposing the economic freedoms. True statists reject all freedoms (fascists and communists). True libertarians - or classical liberals - support all freedoms.
So it makes no sense to put fascism on the left side of politics, but fascism and communism are very similar.

Classic liberals and libertarians are different things - at least, people calling themselves libertarians today don't support the classical liberal view, which featured a better understanding of the role of the state.
How do you mean, a better understanding? I think people who supported the classical liberal approach of society just started to use the term 'libertarian' because leftists have hijacked the term 'liberalism'.
But it is true that for instance in education, people who call themselves classical liberal often will support government subsidies for education (they tend to be pro-subsidies when positive externalities are involved) while people who call themselves libertarian will more likely not support such subsidies (because in their view, such subsidies are an unjustified intervention in the free market).
(That is of course ignoring the anti-capitalist libertarians, who in my opinion should call themselves anarchists rather than libertarians.)

Perhaps could we continue on the topic for that ;=)
