pathetic argument: libya produces 1.3 million barrels europe imports 1 million of them

the us only a mere 100.000 (they import from saudi arabia)

BUT the transportsector worldwide uses 50 million barrels a day. The production of libya pales to that number.
Come on when you argue make sure it has some credibility.

OMG, still didn´t get it? it´s not about amount of oil...try to guess what´s gonna happen with a "strong" US dollar in a case when 17th greatest exporter of oil in the world will decide to selling oil in EUR not USD...

The 17th biggest with such a small impact. I don't think they would really care it's hardly a trading partner.

Maybe if you said that about Iraq or Iran i would believe you but for the 100.000 barrels they buy from Libya they are not going to cry when they sell in EUR.

Let´s think one more time...all greatest economics in the world holds 1/3 foreign exchange reserves in USD because of contracting oil in USD. What would happen with American currency when these countries will release their dollar reserves and putting them on the market? Everybody will want US government to prove a coverage of USD in federal reserves (there isn´t any, USD is almost for 50 years without any value).

But Libya should be a precedence, so 1st who want to show the world this process is working will be punished...

Also, Hussein in Iraq, 2 weeks before US army attacked Iraq, he puts first amount of oil quoted in EUR...after a month, US army was in Baghdad, bad regime was destroyed and country started to sell their oil in USD again...

For sure but China and Japan (world powers # 2 and 3) hold a lot of american paper. Much more then the EU(apart from the UK) does. So the scenario doesn't seem likely

And even if it does: aren't the americans the big selfdeclared protectors of a free market ;).

...and in connection to our debate about EU from previous week...that´s the reason why I am considering the leadership of EU as minions of Americans...they cover them back without ANY profit for EU member states...
2011-04-18 14:30:44
this is just a theatrical performance for ordinary people like you and me...everybody knows USD doesn´t have any value, but nobody (rather) thinks whats going happen if dollar will fail. Only China had a guts to show, they don´t believe in a power of USD during the crisis and started quoting their foreign trade receivables in CNY...after that there was massive campaign in pro US medias about China as a unreliable business partner, the same Iran few years ago, then Iraq, now Libya...who will be next? EU?

here you have a document about how USA is solving their foreign-economic problems

According to such a important and difficult areas like (oil, currency, raw material, cheap workforce, raising independence in Africa and others) are that fairy-tale about human rights really just for fun :-).

But the much worse is that people here are still very easy to believe that "polish attack at radio transmitter started WWII".... you know now what was it about, and what is Libya about you will understand later... I am just sad, that most of you are not able to open your eyes earlier :-(. History will teach you again, like after WWII, but people are dying today :-((
Hi there, you shouldn´t make a statement Czech was against and Slovak was pro separating...it was political issue at that time. Vaclav Havel as a president wanted to have industrial Czech and agricultural Slovakia, so there was little bit more Slovaks for separation. But the process wasn´t consulted with people and has been made on highest political level. Why? Because of money (as usual)...political elites in Slovakia had a plan how to steal everything valuable in the country and they did it...

Nowadays lot of Czech and Slovak people are wishing to live together in one country. Personally I am federalist, too...

I never said what I said is the truth. I said what I learned and read about, and what my conclusion was.

I think Czech Republic and Slovakia are very similar - like Belgium (or at least Flanders) and the Netherlands - but they both have searched their own way - like Belgium and the Netherlands. For me, 1830 (Belgian independence from the Netherlands) was a historical mistake, but we have grown apart so that it is no longer possible to become one united country again, although we - the Flemings in this case - speak the same language as in the Netherlands, Dutch, not Flemish.

Isn't that in the definition of a war? That people die? They are not shooting with pillows you know, mainly the things soldiers shoot with are aerodynamical shaped, iron things, called bullets. ;-)

Besides i'm very glad that Belgium aids to fight a dictator who bombards his own people with cluster munition, in housing areas!! No punishment can be severe enough for such deeds.

I like result of Finland election :-). EU must learn, that who doesnt like responsibility in state funding would have problems and just expensive help from EU. EU should help for free just for tragedy situation or some serious problem, not cause by cheating or risking by stupid government and so.

States like Slovakia and others with health state funding/finance must not always pay for that without any responsibility. Finland shows this to EU, that is why I like them.

EU should be prosperous area and not just washing-machine for some cheaters or "slobs".

Cheap and false promises (and taking loans) of some political parties just to get to parliament should be dangerous not for all EU, just for individuals. Imho EU should give them help, but just if they agree with all conditions about state funding and changes, all conditions without exceptions and this help will not be cheap. People who elected so un-serious government will be force pay for this mistake couple of decades (by high interest of help)

What do you think ?
2011-04-19 10:32:29
I don't like the party but i support the idea of 'who breaks something must pay for it'.

But in every case the discussion about the EU and it's function is always below level. Imo the EU presents itself way to little and thus it's importance is ignored.
2011-04-19 11:16:45
EU is hard to change, and that is maybe the worst problem :-(
2011-04-19 11:51:06
Finland, now Hungary too, seems the early history is going to be repeated

2011-04-19 11:57:11
Hi mate, I understand Hungary, but why Finland?
