Well if you ask me the masses are dumb , need to be lead by an elite.

She isnt perfect, no one is. She could think a litle more in social terms and dont get us involved in military conflicts at all, but apart from that she is a true and strong leader with a quite ok moral basis.

Syria has got no oil and syria is not isolated in political terms as lybia is. Arabic world has got strong connections to syria, especialy iran. So absolutely no one will get involved. Also support of protest isnt strong enough by their own people.

there are tanks.... so protest are not strong right :-) ?

EU is defending human rights not just in EU, everywhere, like in Libya, that was why I was asking :-)
Yes, I like to critisize socialism.

Then do so. Just to be clear, bashing is quite something else.

So saying I bash socialism without looking at the ideas of socialists is the same as what you accuse me of.

You might want to read my previous post a little more carefully. At any rate, you did bash all socialists as a matter of course. Don't tell me you read all their paperwork or studied their policies if they were at any time in power. Socialism isn't the same as extremism. In the distant past, socialism and communism might have been very close, but that is no longer the case.

Just on a short note.. when so called socialism or communism ended in europe in the 90's it was rather stalinism which ended. Anyone who undertsands the true nature of socialism and lived in estern europe or east germany like I, knows that we never had socialism.

It had just the nametag on it.

Precisely the point I'm trying to make: one needs to look at the actual contents.
2011-04-28 12:02:49
Yep, just eleborating the point.

So many who dont understand but think they do know better allways say communism or socialism was bad, while in fact we never had it.

Won't be that long as this goes on. The pressure on that regime is growing. But interfering is a bit difficult in that country. They have a very twitchy southern neighbor and and even more twitchy eastern friend. And also Iraq is still a mess, also a neighbor. So even more political difficulties as Libya if they want to interfere in Syria.
I never said socialism and communism are close now. Like I said, we don't have real socialist parties. However, that doesn't mean I don't completely disagree with the social democratic parties. They really say the opposite of what I'd like to see in many subjects. For instance, the PS (francophone Parti Socialiste) wants 7 billion new expenditures, while I want severe budget cuts of the government, the social democrats want a property tax, I don't. Having said that - and there are much more examples - they (Belgian social democrats) also have a completely different opinion about Belgium and its regions and communities.

I think you said I bashed socialists when I said "That happens when you elect socialists :p", but that was a joke, I thought that was clear by the smiley.
Jokes are hard to recognise at times.
