A Dutch quality newspaper stated that the increase of tourism wasn't particularly impressive: 600K instead of 500K. It also stated that the revenue from 'junk' was estimated at roughly 1 billion.

20m would easily have been made back from it. So many non-English people there and its reported that there was 1 million people in London to see it, police were totally overwhelmed, they didnt know what to do with everyone. And this is London prices we're talking about 4 quid for a bacon sarnie, 7.50 for a hot dog, 2 quid for a bottle of water...

Were there any terrorist threats? I was expecting some. Not hoping for them to happen, but still...
The Dutch and the British are really nuts. In Belgium, the royal family isn't popular at all. Please release them from 'their duty'. A monarchy isn't suitable for a modern democratic state.

Have you ever considered what the world would be like with only politicians running it? All those massive ego's running around without having to answer to anyone? I'm pro-monarchy, I think it's beneficial to have something stable that is above political BS and if you want an example of why, take a look at the current state of US politics.

Those people have no democratic legitimacy whatsoever to represent the people of 'their' country. That says it all for me.

The US system isn't a good one imo, because Obama can't do a thing now because of the elections in 2010. They should only have elections for Senate and House of Representatives when a new president is elected too.
And the king of Belgium hasn't got any power, he can refuse to sign a new law, but they'll just say he was incapable of reigning for one day - they actually did this once when the king before the current one refused to sign the very, very liberal abortion law of Belgium. So what's the point of paying those people?

None happened, the MAC scum that said they'd be protesting but called it off, still tried it on but West Hams Inter City Firm tailed them and made sure they didnt get there with the help of the police.

Police arrested 50 or so anarchist loons the day before and found a working guillotine. 20 were arrested early on the day, again anarchist loons, this lot had climbing gear on them, although they were going away from the wedding when they got arrested. Once things had died down in the afternoon, 4 people put a banner up about us being in Libya and rubbish about the Royals, said on the news that the EDL heckled them til they took it down and went off again.

Police did a very, very good job. I was expecting something major to happen, but thankfully, there was nothing at all :)

Muslims Against Crusades. The expletives that burnt the poppies, celebrated 9/11, shout abuse at troops, and generally preach that they hope everyone, that doesnt turn into a muslim that will kill for islam, dies. So many links to terrorism but our govt wont do anything about them, they planned to burn effigies and shout more abuse outside westminster at the wedding.

Syria situation keeps escalating, I dont get how come Europe doesnt step in ?
Not with arms, but with at least declarations, instead the UN will give Syria millions of $ for good cooperation.

What the hell??
