I think what you didnt study geography ;P

Yes, Azerbaidjan is neither in political nor in geographical Europe. It's in Asia.
But Azerbaidjan belongs to the European Broadcasting Union, which allows them to participate to the ESC. :P
Azerbaycan is partly in Europe (search for it if you like). I don't consider them Europe neither. It's like Kazakhstan who is partly in Europe too; however, as you say, it doesn't matter if you are in Europe, you just have to be a member of EBU, like Israel.
True.

The same goes for Egypt. So we could have an african country in the Eurovision Song Contest :)
Morocco has participated in the past I think.
Very true. In 1980 I think. Only year they were in it and they finished 18th out of 19 songs. Only country to give them points was Italy, so now when they are back, perhaps Marocco can make a return as well? :)

No, geographically they belong to Asia (as well as Georgia and Armenia) From a cultural and political point of view though they are much more connected with Europe. They're in the European Council too. :-)

They geographically belong to both Europe and Asia (seriously, search for transcontinental countries), whether you like it or not. Azerbaijani live in north Iran too (even much more than in Azerbaycan itself). So I wouldn't define them more connected to Europe from a cultural point of view.

+1
exactly true :)

You're right, I was a bit too general there, cultural affection goes rather for Georgia and Armenia (e.g. Christians are the majority there). But I believe it's mainly not for geographical reasons they compete in european sportevents and competitions. Whether they belong to Europe or Asia - well, there have been many borderlines throughout history and even nowadays there are different versions. I'd draw it north the kaukasus and through the Black Sea then, but that is only one opinion. If the Azerbaijani consider themselves as Europeans I guess I can't argue against that :D

Armenia is geographically completely in Asia, Georgia and Azerbaycan are in both Asia as in Europe.

If I would draw I line between Europe and Asia, those three Caucasian countries wouldn't be in Europe neither.

I'm very interested in where certain people live and how the borders are drawn there (do the borders match the cultural borders?). That's how I know most Azeri's live outside 'their' country Azerbaycan.

30 milllion azeri's live in north part of Iran (this closed with history), more in east part of Georgia and in other region countries more azeri's as Russia and Turkey. But in all world live's more 50 milllions azeri's outside country.

done?:)

Oh come on guys, im not happy to be eurpean and it doesnt make me superior. I would like to be in South America as well :P I consider in sportive view if Azerbaijan was in Asia we could easly go to World Cup or Win Asian cup, but I admit politically to be in Europe has big benefits.
if Azerbaijan was in Asia we could easly go to World Cup

Nice you actually believe that. Btw, being in Europe doesn't make anyone superior.
