Subject: Nuclear power debate: yes or no?

2011-03-15 17:44:48
can you show me economic data please ?

1. investment cost of nuclear PP, price for 1 produced KW and annual operational cost

2. same for such amount of sun, geo.. or waves PP, which will make same electricity output.

Please, I will be really thankful for such a data ? I am wonder how we can compare it and maybe I change my option that nuclear PP are bad very useful and we really need them.

It's in that article I posted, here, and more can be found on the internet probably, here.

ok i will try find out more too, but tomorrow, i am on mobile all day :(

no

please name the ways of producing electricity, a similar quantity of electricity like a nuclear power plant.

i will answer with a question ,does the other ways of producing electricity killing humans like a nuclear accident ?

yep a termic central can explode...
2011-03-15 20:05:04
Has that ever happened? What is the potential effect of that? Because geothermal energy is working at quite low temperatures, I think that it cannot be that bad.

Okay i do see the risks of nuclear energy and our green people do see it claerly too.
But when we build windturbines* they protest because it harms the birds or the landscape.

*maybe technology evolved but 4 years ago it took as much energy to produce such a turbine as the turbine would produce on an average lifespan.
Then we didn't count transport or above average production or above average lifespan.

How much energy does it take to build a solar plant?
I stick with my plea: on the long term nuclear fusion is our best way out

i mean if u only wanna see the bad aspects of something... u gonna find it no matter if that thing is good or bad for someone...

According to this source from 1997 a windmill will pay back the energy it has cost to produce the windmill 80 times in its lifetime. I heard similar figures in lectures. That doesn't take away the argument about the protests, but are that really the same people?

I haven't read all of the pages in this topic, but what is the current state-of-the-art with regard to nuclear fusion?
2011-03-15 21:10:21
It costs as much as it returns. So 0% return as a matter of saying.
Not for tomorrow, thus.

That's because of somekind of lobby I think, as ussual ... I have no idea why else they have to use those ugly, dangerous things as other windmills can be way more efficient, save and birds friendly.

Here you can see many different kind of modern windturbines, vertical windturbines and these, horizontal windturbines.

Some examples:

gadgets-reviews.com - Maglev windmills are 1000x more efficient than usual ones

aerotecture.com - aeroturbine on roofs in cities as winddirections and windspeed doesn't matter

But there will be changes after japan I guess, for sure here in germany.

You think? What I understood is that your gouverment have postponed a decision for three months. Everyone has 'forgotten' Japan by then ...

7 nuclear plants are being shutdown now. That's the first reaction for today.
2011-03-15 21:53:47
Alright, that's nice. And how many needs to be shut down in total?
2011-03-15 22:02:53
Do you have an idea how many windturbines we (the EU) have to place to replace nuclear energy?

You can add the solar and hydro plants.. I really don't have any clue
2011-03-15 22:03:17
just to find better energy powerplants :-) oh, sorry we have them ;-)
