Subject: Nuclear power debate: yes or no?
Free market is only free without regulation. ;-)
No. Absolute free market is without any regulation. No man with brains believes in that. Free market is just that you don't make rules to make rules; you don't make rules, unless it's necessary. And the regulation of banks is necessary.
Yes, capitalism. If you wouldn't notice, you live in a capitalistic country in a capitalistic world. You have gradations of capitalism. You're probably referring to extreme capitalism.
If you detest capitalism, which system do you propose?

but it is by far the best system you can think of
you can't think a lot ... maybe

capitalism is DEAD years ago..
we don't live no more in a old school economic system.
Is a no-sense speech to discuss about capitalism as much as it ridiculos talk about teocracy, communism or alien government..
We live in a world that is dominated by the gap between rules that are limited territorially..
and the market that is world sized.
This cause that the economic actors can find the place to do something that here is forbidden.
This is not a free market (cause it has rules), but this is still not a ruled-market (you can find a way out the rules..) so what is it?
It is NOT a market!!!

a perfect example is nuclear energy:
in Italy is forbidden, but we import nuclear energy from france..
so..
so our vote (in Italy we voted years ago against nuclear energy) was bypassed by this no-market/norules economic trick..

Like I said, free market system and capitalism have gradations. So yes, it's a market.
Capitalism is an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated for profit. Income in a Capitalist system is split between the business owners and the workers, with profit sent to the owners, in other words the Capitalists, who have invested money in businesses, and wages are paid to workers.
This is the (very) basic idea, so yes, we do live in a capitalist world. Luckily.

Every pro-nuclear energy scientist can tell you everything he wants, every against-nuclear energy scientist will tell you excatly the same things only with the true dangers :)
And many other things I read in this topic are just not true. Nuclear energy is everything but easy, free or cheap energy. Nuclear stations costs billions to build (often heavely subsidized), to maintain and to protect 24/7 for thousands of years etc ... that's not cheap. And it's not save at all, or is Japan not really happening?
For example, I don't exactly know what the half-life is of the used uranium in Japan, but at least thousands of years, or even hundred thousands of years. Do you know any building that is standing and intact after 2000 years? Can you imagine a building is build for many thousands of years or longer, or an area to store nuclear waste that won't changed and/or attacked by nature, terrorists, animals etc for those thousands of years? No, you can't, no 1 can. And how do you want to warn people for dangerous stuff in tjhe ground, write down 'don't touch, nuclear waste'? How many people sproke english 2000+ years ago, how many will speak English in 2000+ years? Questions we can't answer but we need energy now so no time for questions, just lie to the world it is save ... ;)

So pro-nuclear scientists are all liars then? ;)
I guess we will have to agree to disagree, it doesn't appear to be possible to carry on a discussion on this.

I don't say that, I say they leave a very important part unspoken :)
Oh, what I mean by lie to the world are often politicians, energy companies or info from nuclear energy addicted countries. People that make a lot of money with this form of energy.
I found a solution, we could use the pyramids in egypt to dispose of the nuclear waste, they have been standing there for 6000 years, so they propably last another 4000:)
Too bad plutoniums half life is 24 000 years....

yes, they are. At least they don't tell the whole story.

Yep and they can rely on the media to carry the msg for them and the stupid masses to believe it, because they cannot thnk for themselves anymore or dont want to.

Once again, don't compare Japan to Western Europe. The dangers of tsunami's or earthquakes doesn't exist here.
