Subject: freedom of speech

er, lets just say we in the UK have an opinion on what is acceptible and what is not. Some guys from eastern europe seem to like the sadistic shock humour but that is their choice. But on international forums, there are all sorts of people reading so anybody posting should take care what they write.

is this a reason to permaban active user, playing here for 6 years, with respect and suport of community ??

I was 1 week away from being in those twin towers - i thank my lucky stars that i was home and safe when those thousands of innocent people got murdered (or at least they are innocent in my eyes maybe not yours or others)

I personally did not think he spoke seriously about what he wrote, otherwise I would have been calling the Doctors around his house. If you are friends with someone then you know how to take that person when they write, many many users would not have understood his Interview, and even if they took it as a joke and not meant it was not funny and did offend users.

His sense of humour had clearly got him into trouble on many many many occassions too so why did he not try to learn from past punishments? I do not understand that, it seems rather stubborn and senseless to me?

Seriously we try not to talk about individual cases, but do you seriously think that a one time error would lead to a Permanent Ban? It would not and I am sure you are aware of that. Likewise if I had a record as long as his was then after receiving a Final Warning I would try not to cause so much trouble for myself. We are not a mean team, and we do give a lot of warnings before punishments are dealt out, especially where forums are concerned....it takes a lot for Admins to become involved.

his previous bans is a subject for other long discussion which is not allowed here but should be consider inside sk staff as an example of spoiled control system

just let me say that some of them was given only because of personal conflicts with some polish staff members abusing their position

I cannot as you know discuss that.

There have been many cases of scandal in the past with users and also staff, I am sure there will be in the future too, it is our job to be more consistent in how we deal with these things and we are trying to achieve this.

I got married to be disliked, and had kids, I do not try and achive it here too. That was a joke by the way (just in case my wife sees this).

PS my son who is 12 plays this game, and although he is not active if he were to have read the posts on the Guide to The World Cup then he would not have understood the nature of that humour.

We have to base our decisions on these sorts of things.

It has EVERYTHING to do with it though. Readers in the US could have read that post and had a Mum, Dad, Friends that were killed in the Twin Towers.

My point is met perfectly, what is funny to some is not always funny to the next erson and usually it depends on circumstances.

I am sure there were jokes about the Tsunami at Japan (I have not seen any) but if you see the videos of the devastation and people literally losing anything.......how is that kind of thing funny?

People can laugh with Belgium if they want, they can say all Belgians are pedophiles like Dutroux, I frankly don't care, because I know it's a joke. You can insult me if you want. I will not like it, and probably, I won't listen to you in the future, but I'll never say you can't say what you've said, even if it was very insulting to me or someone else. Freedom of speech is very, very important.

At the end of the day, any person who cares about others would not say a joke knowing that it would upset others. Freedom of speech is fine - but there is a line to cross.

I agree 100% but remember that there are 2 kinds of people: the ones following mainly 'faith/emotion' and the ones following mainly 'logic/reason'.
Taboos are made for the first kind of persons.. and althoug i hate taboos and believe are stupid medieval stuffs, we are in a community: we know some of us are for sure of the first kind and might get hurt by somekind of jokes.. you may say: who cares? i'm a free man, with freedom of speech.. but this is not a +18 site and kids got no structure to understand sarcasm..

That is the reason for forum rules. Breaking them gives issues.

i tell you.. i laugh when a friend of mine tell me a racist or sexist joke.. well i don't take it as truth, cause still i got some critical sense.. a kid, or the taget of the joke, or someone with less opened mind may think i'm serious, may get offended.. if this happen in real life i would explain myself (btw in real life for sure i will never go to a jewish kid and tell him a joke about hitler..) but here i got 62k of potential readers of any age, any religion, any ethnicity... believing that any one of them got my same background would make me quite unsensitive, don't you think?

note: now i'm not talking about KZ, cause i did not read his post at all, so i dunna how much he got far.. i'm speaking in general.
