I have made an awesome Obsidian bungalow on Survival Mode, I'm using Beta 1.8.1...

Is there somekinda option to get smaller map aswell now?

I dont like infinite maps.

I read about it but i dont really understand how to get those:
In Classic and Indev, maps can be generated in "small" (128×128×64), "normal" (256×256×64), and "huge" (512×512×64) sizes.

You could probably do that through a mod? I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't tbh, is it lagging?

No it doesnt lag, im just that kinda guy who wants to have an overview of whats around him all the time and i like to "discover" everything before i start playing in some region so an infinite map is boring for me:P

I've been trying to find an NPC village. No luck so far. I think the creatures of the night have nightmares about this figure clad in diamond armour, with a diamond sword. Killing them. However, even though I found an old mine I never so much as got a hint of an NPC village.

Is it possible to build one yourself? I read you can make a village grow, but can you build one from scratch?

I've found a village once, it was empty, nobody there, but there were some houses..

really freaked me out because i had no idea those things could happen. I never read up about it :p

I dont think so, you need people for it but they spawn only with seeds as far as i know.


seed named lostlostlost spawns you right next to a npc village, but i guess you dont wanna start your world over:p

I have started so many worlds... I just don't want to cheat. (Well, I did use a cheat the one time I got hopelessly lost in the Nether. Which was still a lot of work.) So using a seed is something I don't want to do, really.

By the way, if you ever end up in an old mine: poisonous spiders are a plague. Milk is the cure for poison. However, the real thing to have with you is a bucket with water. Spider webs get washed away really easily. After that its a simple question of quickly destroying the bloody spawner. (Lava does the trick relatively safely, however, you don't want to burn all the wooden struts if you can help it. Surprisingly dangerous.)

Just worked out that it takes 52/53 seconds to get from the bottom of my house to the top, I have a massive underground lair that just keeps growing. :)

The computer admins at my school had blocked most external .exe files (such as the Minecraft Launcher) to stop people bringing stupid programs in, however, they actually installed a Command Prompt-style program called 'BBC Basic for Windows', which myself and an ICT buddy have used to get the Launcher to run on the computers WITHOUT restriction.

All we need to do now to get Minecraft running is all of my AppData stuff. :)

i freaking hate those mineshaft spiders. for some reason i get chills all over my spine when i hear them :I

love the game though. Explored all of the mineshafts and built a massive house on top of a hill with private spa, library, a pole in the bedroom for pole dancers. Outside jacuzzi, grilling area and a private beach.
