Top 20 most harmful drugs, according to Professor David Nutt
Alternative list of most harmful drugs, as drawn up by sacked government adviserSam Lister, Health Editor Professor David Nutt's harm index, published in a controversial paper entitled Estimating Drug Harms: a risky business, is based on scores allocated for 20 substances based on physical harms, dependence and social harms.
He identifies three main factors that determine the harm associated with any drug of potential abuse: a) the physical harm to the individual user caused by the drug; b) the tendency of the drug to induce dependence; c) the effect of drug use on families, communities and society.
Within each category there are three components, leading to a nine-category matrix of harm, with scores of zero to three for each category. This is the final list based on that classification. In brackets is the classification given under the Misuse of Drugs Act, with Class A attracting the most serious penalties.
1. Heroin (Class A)
2. Cocaine (Class A)
3. Barbiturates (Class B)
4. Street methadone (Class A)
5. Alcohol (Not controlled)
6. Ketamine (Class C)

published in a controversial paper
Do you know why it is controversial? Let me help you: it was a very shoddy piece of work. Not only did the research criteria make little sense, the underlying maths were based on an unacceptable amount of guesswork.

And even if it would be true, alcohol is stil on this list the only item that actually has many positive sides and so the society would actually lose significant value if it would get banned. Other items do not.
and even if it would be true, alcohol is still Nr 1 cause of deaths. At least in estonia:P we like to go swimming when we are drunk as hell, and also we like to go joy riding after the alcohol level in our blood has reached the highpoint. And sometimes we stab eachother when we are drunk. That's the life in my country:P is it different in yours?
alcohol is really bad, much worse than marrihuana but who can live without it :) ?
Eastern Europe is unique in the way of alcohol abuse.
Haha you gotta love how ex-USSR (forgive me the expression) countries deal with alcohol =p
Also the percentages you drink are unbelievable =p

It's the same in my country. But everybody knows it to be wrong and illegal. We are talking here about what should be legal and how.
Moderate alcohol consuming is not wrong unlike any other item on that list unless their use is cnotrolled regularly by a doctor. So, again, alcohol is mostly used properly in free use while all other substances on the list are not.
What about people joyriding sober? They are abusing cars. Does it mean we should forbid cars?

Couple of months ago there was a list published of biggest alcohol consumers(men and women) in europe:
one with the consumers of alcoholic drinks
one with liters of pure alcohol
Eastern europe won both times, moldavia owned the last one big time(due to their vast amount of female drinkers)

Marijuana Is Not A Drug, It's A Plant!

I have to laugh at those studies about mental illnesses caused by weed...I had only paranoia because of possibility the policemen could catch me, when I´ve been smoking weed in past...now I can´t to smoke, because of my work...in my opinion world could be much more better, when smoking weed wouldn´t be abolished...
have you ever seen aggressive drunken youth?
have you ever seen aggressive smoked youth?
now decide...

omg, still speaking about something you never tried? :)
some Czech beers are really great, e.g. Gambrinus, Pilsner, Bernard or some specials...
vodka is for poor people in my country (if we drink it, we usually mix it with juices), but we like some kind of fruit spirits, like Slivovica, Hruškovica, Čerešňovica and more...
