Somebody that drinks alcohol everyday even if its only 1 beer, would be an alcoholic.

Seriously, what brands of Belgian beers have you tasted before?

I think I have had most of them. I'm a curious man, I like to taste different things. Unfortunately, I have a really lousy memory for brand names. I can rmember the names of peoples, tastes and smells, sounds even, but names of things are a pain. (Yes, that IS a problem when you study history.)

On the contrary. I have spent great years in the French speaking part. My grandparents have - or had - a second house in Fays. (Rue du Pouhon.) Spent my days outside with all kinds of things, most of them probably a horror to a lot of you as they'd resemble hard labour in the midns of most. I liked it, though. What I do not like, is false bravado.

Not if you're student. :P Honest to God, all indicators for alcohol abuse are doubled for students. So if you'd be a drunk if you'd drink 10 or more consumptions in a week, a student would have to drink twice that to be considered a drunk. Utter nonsense, if you'd ask me. There really is but one thing that makes you an alcoholic: addiction. If you cannot do without and get withdrawal symptoms if you have to, then you are in trouble. If that isn't the case, then you are not. It's that simple. The threshold is different for everyone.

Yeah I am a student:) And no i dont NEED to drink it but who doesn't love nice cold pint? Everytime we have longer lunch we always go for a beer sometimes even every day and still go out on the weekends but thats just college life Il stop in 4 years :P

pot is for loosers who can't cope with the reality, every single person I know who smokes pot is an arrogant selfish prick who thinks he knows everything and they are really annoying. pot makes you incredibly stupid, I know people whose lives are ruined by this shit, maybe they don't realize it and they think they are awesome, but they are really screwed, just because of this bullshit :)

Cigarettes may harm your health, but not your personality and if you can control it (like me) then you have no problem :)

I know few people who have smoked weed for years. and those few guys are probably the smartest and most intellingent people I have ever met. I´m not sayin here that smoking pot will make u smrter. I´m just sayin that the pot smokers u know were either incredibly stupid before they started with pot or they are just mentally too weak to control themselves(kinda equals with the first option).

That is true... but I was just saying that drinking is dangerous and can have serius human and material consequences.... smoking is just fun for involved... that is why I stand opinion legalize it

pot/weed can make light deformation of your personality but alcohol can make this too and much worse...

I know :) I am just comparing cigarettes vs. marijuana. Alcohol is much worse and addicting and ruins lives but no only consumer's but their families too. Cigarettes and marijuana probably don't do such things.

yeah, there are pot users and pot users...but all the succesful people I know managed to make their success without pot, so I don't really see any point of using this :)

Well, who knows, every country has its own stuff probably :) Maybe Estonia pot has better effects :P

I think that a major issue is that it is illegal, and because it is illegal people who do smoke it in your country are more likely to go in to criminalty to because its a big difference if its illegal or not. You see in Holland -where gangja is legal- that the problems aren't so big as in other countries where pot is illegal and big time punished.

it should be legal . I have smoked pot for over 30 years. I stopped smoking about a year and a half ago. I look at people I knew that have not smoked it for a year and a half. not because I wanted to stop but because of circumstances. I stopped and I had no hang over like one would with Alcohol .or like when I stopped downers or speed. , marijuana is illigal because of big corporations . the best fiber is Hamp fiber. Levi jeans used to be made from hemp fiber.they used to last for a lifetime. not today because they use mostly cotton. the best rope that was very strong agian was made from hemp so again the nylon companies were not happy with hemp and they wanted it out of the way too. even petroleum .hemp oil is a good burner, and can be used with some modification as fuel . petroleum industry did not want that so they was against it. cigarettes another big industry .did not want marijuana to be legal because it is easy to grow and they will lose billions dollars. the pharmaceutical companies . didnt want marijuana legal because it cures alot of ailments and all that research will not be needed so products will be cheaper and tablets and medicines will be cheaper. and again big corporations do not like that . so the main reason Marijuana is illegal most of the world. because of money. that is the main issue MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!,is anyone disagrees with that do some real research and you will find that i am correct. also by marijuana being illegal brings a criminal element into the situation and criminals get rich from selling a product that is toxic. with glass fibers and other added crap that is not pot and that gets you addicted to the stuff.

It just seems to me you are always very negative about Belgium (which is not that remarkable, but saying our beers can't 'compete' with the Czech ones is quite remarkable, given that Belgian beers are winning a lot of prices, around the world).

True story. Throughout the year, we drink a lot, but for instance, now (exams), I have no problem with drinking no alcohol for a few weeks. I don't need it, I just like going out with friends, and yes, that is a regular habit during the year :-)

Our special beers are winning prizes, not our pilses ;)
Our pilses are just on average to those of any other country (apart from czech rep or germany maybe) or slightly above average maybe. Most other nationalities would consider them too bitter though... But our special beers are winning prizes. Unfortunately, most other nationalities don't even know about this category of beer.
On one hand, you can't blame them for not knowing what they miss. On the other, you can only pity them... ;)

I cannot do anything about the fact you can't recognize when I'm serious and when I'm not, so I'm not gonna try that.


And on the third hand: nobody knows how to do this. So, again, nobody should be blamed for this, but you can pity us for it :p
