Well okay you can laugh at it, but still, doesn't matter to which team this would happen, don't you think it's deep shit from uefa?
i think its european bureaucracy that put you into this situation.
in my opinion an organization president with balls should step up and say this is a shit decision and should be changed but i aint no diplomat so maybe thats the best way to handle it considering all the court mess it could bring up, so dunno.

a president who says that rules don't matter would be a bad precedens, don't you think?
nope, it would show that he is a human not a bureacrautic(is that a word?:D) robot like 99% of european officials.
not really
the head of whatever institution should NOT override decisions of special departments and cannot work ABOVE the law
if you do it once, what stops you from doing it again?
rules are there for a reason. if you ignore one because you can, then you can ignore another one in the future...

well maybe that would be a little bit of a precedens, but instead of this, we have thoughtless legalism
What you describe is not called "president", but rather "Khan". And, somehow, doesn't seem like a great idea :P
yea it could lead to a precedent, but i dont think its something any club would risk to attempt. the gains arent all that favourable.
and what about mutual consent?
its pretty clear this was a mistake by Legia, not an attempt to gain advantage. i dont think Celtic club and also the fans would want bad reputation(which they got now aswell) by appealing if UEFA boss would have given the pass to Legia. or maybe they would have and being overly regulated organization uefa didnt have balls to give that pass but i think 99% of true sportsmen would not want to gain a win that way.
football is entertainment not a nation.

look, the UEFA would keep Legia in the CL quals if Celtic promised not to pursue an appeal in higher instance
but Celtic did not give such promise (if they would appeal, they would win for 100%, thus screwing up all draw etc. made by UEFA), they didn't even answer phones or e-mails from Legia officials...
so yeah, Celtic wanted it this way:)

True. But the sportsmen are not running the club. The people running the club are all about the money!

yup
also Celtic has shareholders, yes?
if so, then the board could not refuse to 'qualify' further without the acceptance of the board...too much money
