Probably rather that they got rid of the constitutional court and are threatening independent media.
Haha yeah, wouldn't really 'glorify' the current Polish government ...
Well, langhe, surprisingly i live in poland and you know what? Current government did more during one year, than previous one did throuht 8 years. :P of course i don't want to glorify them, i see they also make some bad decision, but to be honest you can't even compare then and now.
Charles, can you give me some examples of what is a threat to the fundamentals of democracy in poland? I'm not being ironic, i'm really imterested in what your media say bout that.
And not really get rid of, but rather finally trying to get things together.
Edit: ye plus people moan about immigrants, but almost noone admits that poland is somewhere around the top of the list when it comes to countries taking immigrants (because lot of ukrainians come to us). Nontheless noone should tell us what we have to do about that.

The freedom of media is restricted by a new law, and it's not the first try of this government to silence the media. This government has been warned a number of times already, also because this government is interfering with law and active in propaganda. It's an authoritarian government that supports restriction of freedom, not only for media and law but also the people.
Poland with this government is heading a dangerous path.
EDIT: Nontheless noone should tell us what we have to do about that.
That's not true, all countries have to take their part of what has been decided.

Okay but can you give me an example of how our government tries to silence the media? Because i'm in poland and i kinda don't see it.
I would rather say as a fun fact, that as a way to defend the democracy, opposition in poland tries to overthrow the government chosen in democratic election.
Edit:
About media. Who fights against media? Yesterday some men destroyed public tv's camera. Reporters were insulted by people attending the demonstration. They were interrupting and preventing reporters from making live stuff (turning on flashlights straight into cameras, using signal horns right into their ears etc). What's more yesterday evening there were our prime minister's speech on tv. In more than half of country people were unable to watch public tv, because tv's signal was disrupted. Accident?

Just 1 example:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/07/poland-president-signs-bill-putting-state-media-under-government-control
These are the things your government are doing, dangerous.
The media in my country has nothing to win with your opposition, they only cover the news as it is. The argument 'because I am in Poland' is not a very strong argument. Because you are in Poland doesn't mean you get objective news and facts, often it is even the other way around as people from other countries have nothing to win or lose with 'choosing sides' and are less susceptible for government propaganda because of their neutrality.
And the opposition overthrowing the government because of what? Demonstrations against laws that are not for the government to make as those laws restrict freedom of media? I think that are the right demonstrations, defending the freedom and democracy.

Dangerous? What is your knowledge about media in poland? What do you know about who stands behind mainstream media in poland and about their political views and targets (i mean what they wanna achieve through their media)?
they only cover the news as it is
Charles, i don't want to judge you but... Poor you. I'm afraid NO media gives you news as they are. Those are mainly opinions and you have to filter and verify it with your intellect. Your media have nothing to win? Have they. For example to paint such picture of poland.
And i see you don't really get our situation and why are they protesting, what makes our discussion kinda hard to continue lül.

Alright, if you think so. The world is crazy when they talk about their concerns over this authoritarian government in Poland.
Besides, the words 'mainstream media' makes my hear stand up. After those words too often propaganda or fake-news followed :/

What goes around comes around. Western Europe is full of polish imigrants, there are one million poles in UK alone. Should they build a fence?
