to believe in God is almost nothing, to obey to God (jesus) is the proper sense
there are 2 kind of people, one kind like God and like the rules..second kind are you, you like anything but God

I didn't say I don't believe in god :p
I'm skeptical, about everything
I'm skeptical, about everything
But to believe evolution is made up, that's one bridge too far
True. Last night I crossed two spoons under my pillow and today I've found a magic stick...
I stirred it in the air and my wife brought me breakfast into bed.
I didn't smoke anything, all was real. All is about belief, hard belief

“If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]
magic is a sin

ok it took quite long, sure. long story short, we still have to remember about:
a) took quite long not really to write, but rather to complete (what's kinda clear in terms of ages of israel's history :P) or write down the old testament. i mean all the editorial stuff, let's name it that way, plus what's more...
b) oral tradition - highly developed and quite accurate. i mean we shouldn't look at it from our, modern/contemporary point of view
c) as it comes to the "quite long" thing. well, that also explains some things related to book's content. look at, e.g. 2nd description of world's creation. we have to take their point of view. it's hard to expect that people living 3000 years ago would give you some detailed, scientific description of how world happened :P
d) which is related to point "a" - there's also need to remember, that main idea of old testament's authors were to communicate some certain truths about God, not always trying to write some chronicles or whatever. so, based on other literature and cultural research of that area - we can admit, that lot of verses, when author says about, for example, beating huge army with only few guys, that doesn't mean it had to be exactly that way. that also doesn't mean he's a liar. no, that means nothing more than that's not the most important thing for him to say and that he uses such way of expression
e) so yes, again, we have to mention literary genres.
what do you mean about "nothing special"? seriously. i'm just interested in do you mean it has, let's say, "nothing fresh" :P, or "fresh but not interested in".
and well... yes, i can understand that for somebody it can be only kinda mythology. i don't expect that anybody (i'm not talking about you, i don't know you ;) so...) with religious experience like "my grandpa was going to church, so do i" or without any experience actually would treat it other way.
i hope you'll understand what i wrote :D it's hard for me to explain that in english lol.

lol no
the writing of Old Testament took hundreads of years
...and then ~1000 years after it started to be written, they started chosing what is true and what is not true and should be erased :D
b) oral tradition - highly developed and quite accurate. i mean we shouldn't look at it from our, modern/contemporary point of view
that makes sense only with fairy tales
anyway it doesn't matter: since they changed even the part that was already written, imagine what was happening with what wasn't written yet

exactly, it's how they imagined the world was created. because it's a fairy tale imagines and created by people.
the same way Greek mythology explained natural phenomenons like vulcanos by Gods. It's textbook religion stuff.

yes, fairy tales usually have morals to their story. like the three piggies and the wolf story.

if you meet God and he say to you, I am God, you can believe or not

ok maybe it wasn't clear from my message. i didn't wanted to say, that it didn't take hundreds of years (mentioned that :P), but also wanted to mention editing what, as i guess, you prefer to name "chosing what is true and what is not true". to avoid that brave conclusions, you can't separate the bible itself from taking a look at development of judaism, because it was changing a bit.
that makes sense only with fairy tales
why?
exactly, it's how they imagined the world was created...
but still, they weren't idiots. :P actually that text is very similar to ancient texts from other mythologies BUT an author uses it, gives new elements and makes up widely known text (because that's kind of 'material' that was familiar to people) to show, by using it, some different and already-monotheistic truths about God
i can't see the relation to point d :P
and well, i guess that's not the point to have better characters or whatever :P

what is the purpose of a false bible ? and why i must believe and you not ?
Brace yourself, I know somebody who's gonna be here in aproximately 5 minutes with some bible verses.
I took a bit longer but there we go :P

you also cannot change the 'source' of religion by choosing and changing what you want, otherwise it's clear that isn't not the word of god, but word of the authors and editors:)
why?
because fairy tales are not about the facts and truth, but about the story and the moral you want them to convey:)

I'm saying they made the whole thing up, just like all authors of fictional books :P
and well, i guess that's not the point to have better characters or whatever :P
it makes the book better :P
