My grandfather too, but for as far as I know he didn't fight. The nazis were a bit more friendly to the neighbors as they have treated the so called 'non-Aryans'. He was imprisoned because he didn't want to fight for the nazis, fortunately not killed or else I wouldn't be here :/. But he escaped the German prison camp as he didn't want to work as a slave labor for the nazi's :P
He didn't spoke about the war that often so I don't know the complete story. This he told us in during his last days.
Don't know the story of my other grandfather, was to young when he passed away.

story of my granpa is pretty funny sorta.. he was 18 when they drafted him (1943) in Italy. He didn't know anything about politics, he said that some people just came to him one day and took him, gave him orders and he was stationed somewhere in north Italy.
funny thing is that Italy "collapsed" about one month after they took him and he ran away from some area near Rome all the way to Istra where, again, some people took him (partisans) and then he fought for them for few years..
so, basicly, he fought for both sides XDD, got wounded in the leg also and still alive and kicking XD
anyway, boobs!
