Without a doubt...
No question...

Only other game where i have sunk as many hours in as the Elder Scrolls series is Diablo 2.

I mean this whole series has so much replayability(is it even a word?).
I have picked up Morrowind and Oblivion so many times and played them in so many different ways.
It's def. going to be the same with Skyrim. Love the series and love Bethesda for the amazing work.

The most important aspect if the fact that the strenght of opponents is connected with your strenght.
Ok, in Oblivion it was kind of annoying at further levels, but it makes the game playable since the beginning - you can actually do everything you want with every possible class and the game will be properly adjusted so you won't reach a point when you'll say 'ok, that's too hard for me, I will do it after I advance 5/10/15 levels'. Same with apparel and weapons in shops, the better and more advanced you get, the better ones you can buy :).

By the way I haven't followed the mages guild path yet, is it possible to combine spells in one? Like in previous editions where you were able to combine for example shock, frost and flames into one mana consuming but 'I can kill everyone with one shot' spell?

I've got some good enchantments on my sword by the way. The sword itself isn't that good [glass sword or blades sword - they look awesome!] but it's smithed to max and enchanted with shock+frost damage [38+30? sth like that] which makes them a 'one hit-one kill' weapons with most normal opponents...

I used to be an avid Skyrim player like you, then I took an arrow to the knee.

There's no spell making as much as i know(Haven't played as mage much, haven't entered the college).

But spell combining is more awesome than in Oblivion.(eg equipping one spell in one and the another in other hand, and fire away). First level spells are already quite powerful. But mages need a patch. As their spells don't get stronger by the level of destruciton skill for example. So they are hard to play in late game.

i'm using Glass mace(superiour) with fire damage (damages are higher when on fire)

Amazing weapon :D

:)

The only thing that made me angry in Skyrim is the heavy dragon armour. I look like a fucking pale caveman in it, the light one looks a LOT better...what a shame I was wearing heavy armor all the time before :/.

I like the dragon armor. It's also great fun to put double enchantments on stuff. :D

I have full dragon armor + daedric shield and daedric srowd and bow, all fully upgraded and enchanted :P
2011-12-06 02:52:57
I have daedric armor set, well almost - I still need to make boots and shield

the sword is great though, added fire damage 38pts, was thinking about adding frost/shock damage [that would make it 50+50 magical damage+the sword damage so :))] but I decided to add the soul traping spell so I don't need to use the spell all the time...will probably get myself a new daedric sword sometime in the future and make it a double destruction enchantment :).

anyway, got pretty angry...started doing the main quest and there's some kind of bug, Esbern was supposed to open the door so I can enter a room and talk to him but...he didn't so I can't go on with the quest :/. will probably do some thieves/mages/dark brotherhood/companions quests next time I manage to play skyrim, don't know which one yet. :)

ps. dragon armor sucks, daedric armor rocks! both better defence and much better looks :)

just look at it...and the gauntlets are badass!!

click

oh, one more thing - someone complained that the spells of a mage don't get better while advancing in destruction skill, that's not true. ok, the spells are stable, don't get better, but you manage to buy better spells that demand more mana etc. and thanks to destruction perks you can make them take a lot less mana to cast

believe me, some spells are badass and kill almost instantly...

Still, I think its harder to play as mage. Tried both, as heavy I just go straight in combat and kill them with few hits, with mage you need to combine magic all the time for best results...
2011-12-06 13:50:24
what spells did you have? did you buy the perks that lowered the consumption of mana?

2011-12-06 14:04:16
Destruction and conjuration and of course I had the perks for it, but still it was easier with another character fully equipped deadric armor set and swords. There are some enemy's which make a lot of problems as mage...
2011-12-06 14:11:00
that's why I'm a sword battlemage wearing a heavy armor, almost unstoppable. :p the distribution of perks makes it harder though, although destruction perks kind of suck...but still I needed to get them [without 2 or 3] + enchanting perks + smithing perks so I only have the basic block, heavy armor, one handed and bow perks.

I'm wondering whether I should start a new game after I finish the main quest and become a thief/silent killer with maxed lockpicking, sneak and one handed [using two swords/daggers]

I've seen that there is a perk that gives you sneak attack x15 while using a dagger - one hit one kill. :)

Also liked the bullet time perk with bow, very useful

I really dislike the Daedric looks. Also, the dragon armor is less cumbersome. The ebony stuff looks by far the best, by the way.

To each his own, then. ;-)

I've got a ring with one handed damage improvement en gauntlets with the same enchantment. I kill the biggest dragons in a few hits these days.
2011-12-06 15:06:33
Yeah, the necklace/ring/gauntlets/helmet etc. enchantments are pretty helpful. You can get yourself to crazy levels of magicka/health/stamina etc. :).

Yeah, Ebony stuff is great as well, especially the ebony shield is much better looking than the daedric one. but have you seen the daedric gauntlets while making a spell? amazing, they look like monster hands :D.

I'm also collecting the glass set, great as well - the shield, the sword and the battle axe are sweet.
