its not less than 1% but in general its low % especially for starting musicians. (also why so many artists have their own label nowadays)

I do know they don't get such a high percentage, but that doesn't mean:
- one should just invent pictures and pretend they're real, and
- that we should allow illegal stuff on the internet. If you don't want to pay for it, don't listen to it. Your choice.

That is a bit the point of the whole discussion. There are people that argue that allowing illegal downloads is in the end delivering more profits for a lot of artists. For the artists that are already famous action against piracy would be profitable, but new artists have to find other ways to get into the picture then.

Then every artist must be able to determine if he's going to allow what is now illegal.
Would be the best solution indeed. Having to give away free music might be worse than a small percentage of the fans buying the music and the others downloading it.
considering SOPA is dead, with 70 million signatures in online petition, i guess this should be renamed to ACTA since this is the next major thingy which is being conidered for legislation

Was a nice comment in the video I posted. Who steal what? Did Megaupload (or any other upload site) copy the music, rename the bands and songs and then put these videos on the site as if THEY made these songs? That would be theft, but that's not the case at all.

Knowingly offering facilities to distribute stolen goods is just as criminal. It's called fencing. It's like I stole from you, then put the stolen goods in a store. Store keep tells you: "But I didn't steal it!". You: "bollocks"
did you know there is a "little" difference between intellectual and physical property ?
