Subject: Jobs
Sorry about having to create a new topic, but i didnt know where else i could post this.
See, i'm coming to a stage in my life where i'm required to make a massive decision. See, i'm one of those people who are cursed that they cannot decide what dream to pursue.
All my teachers believe i should pursue a high rating career such as Doctor, lawyer, etc...
On the other hand my coaches, especially football ones would say i should pursue a career in sports.
Without trying to be big headed, i do really believe i can achieve any of these dream as long as i commit to it.
My problem now is that, i want to be a doctor, but i also have this part of me thats so passionate about being a footballer...
So is it possible that one could be a doctor and also a footballer???
Has it ever been heard of or done?
(Please i would appreciate it if u all took this seriously)
btw, in the middle of Gcse's So far have an A* in Maths and Biology, and an A in Graphics technology

You could be a doctor after finishing your carrer or maybe study part time, can't do both at the same time tho
studying to become a doctor is very time consuming and difficult. In my opinion, it is almost impossible to do both at the same time - play soccer on a professional level and study medicine.
in theory, it could be done, but that would mean you would not now the meaning of social life. literally. there would be enough time only for studyings and trainings. and that´s it. I don´t really think you want this.
what are your biggest achievements in football so far? what position do you play? how far do you think you would go if you´d start a life as a footballplayer?

As for football so far, I started at 11 years of age. I played defense but now my abilities are better suited for a Midfielder. either wing or Central.
I went to a trial for my county team which i got accepted into, but due to times clashing with other things like church on Sundays... i quit.
I now train alone and had a private coach whom i used to train with until recently.
The thing is, i started football only 4 years ago, but I'm already better than most...
I do really believe i could go very far in this kind of career...
I also am an Athlete. Sprinting and Longjump

You consider becoming a footballer and you quit a team cause of church..???
From what i can see, you're 15 which means you have 3-4 years before you get to college...

how fast can you run 100m?
what is your longjump record?
if you started with football at the age of 11 and started only 4 years ago - can I conclude that you are 15y old?

you can easily study for 3 more years in high school before going to university and also you can easily play football 3 more years at least.
if you are still the best dr. footballplayer around your town in 3 years(i hope its a big town) then consider career in football, but first just boarden your horizon and enjoy life.
or become a sportsdoctor?:P
you know the one who specialises in healing athletes(dunno if there is a name for this dude)

So you go to a basically anonymous forum and ask sth like that?
The ones to ask should be your family or an adult of your choice you can trust.
Anyhow, you still have enough time to choose, judged by your age.
Good luck anyhow.

it depends how good you are at football, i had the same problem., i decided to do both, still passed all my exams but no way near as good as i would have liked to, i now play college football (captain) and looking for a team in a semi-pro / league 2 team in England where i can play. however being honest, though i much prefer football to my studies, I kinda wish i had put more effort into my studies as a job main steam job would be a lot better than what i'm doing now. (in my opinion) saying this i'm a semi-qualified accountant and have now decided i don't want to be an accountant :(
I am currently in the same situation as you, being 16 and intelligent. I am currently being asked the same questions as you, and i am also being pushed ideas into my head by my family. They want me to go down the banking/accountancy route which is an okay suggestion considering i want a future job that involves calculations (not necessarily a teacher). However, i am not sure if that is what i wish to have a career in. So i have decided to take things one step at a time, first i will do A-Levels (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Geography), and from there i will decide my next step of what i want to study at university.
In your case i think it is more complicated because your routes are very different to each other, however at the end of the day i think you need to consider two factors, which are what you enjoy, and security. Being a doctor, you have the security that you should be able to have a well paid job for a long period of time. The problem with sports is if you don't reach a decent level, or you encounter an injury, your sports career will be over. However a sports career is probably undoubtedly more enjoyable than a career as a doctor.
I don't want to advise anything, but i think if you were to go into sports, to make sure you have a Plan B, because sports isn't the most "secure" career.

Ask yourself the same question when you can actually answer it. Right now, you're simply too young. For starters, your body isn't quite finished growing up. Furthermore, being smart is not the same as being capable of becoming a doctor. That takes a lot of dedication and a certain attitude. What you need to do is this: keep the options you want open. If you might want to become a doctor - trust me, at 15 you can't be really sure even if you think you are - be sure to follow the right subjects. Equally, if you want to be an athlete: do your thing. (And for crying out loud, skip bloody church. If you quit because of church, you won't ever become an athlete. Dedication is key. Nothing and nobody may be allowed to stand in your way.)

ATM, you can go with both studying and sport, as it was said already.
Just look at yourself when you turn 18and notice if you have some chances to make a career in football, maybe you'll have a bit of luck and a scout notices you and you can get a decent contract for beginning :)
but, imo, if a sportman doesn't seem to have too many chances when he's 18-19 and his sport future is just unclear, then it's a bit useless to continue.
I also played tennis for performance, like 8-9 years, I managed to reach top 15 in Romania while 16yo, but I just had to be better than I was, to manage to reach at least top 200 atp, in order to earn a living from this... so I quitted to practice it for performance and now I'm a coach and I'm also at faculty.
So, to sum up, you still have time, just see how good you are in football at 17-19yo and what chances you have to go further.
