I have a Sony Touch PRS-650. Cheap, no wi-fi, no nothing. Basic e-reader using eInk (magic ink). Battery can last for 3-4 weeks when not in use!

Absolutely love it and it doesn't have the problems with locked file formats like Kindle etc.

I read around 100 pages per day and the battery lasts for about 15 to 18 days. If you turn off wi-fi it makes a huge difference (I'd say it could last around a month).

Oh, and for all e-Book reader people out there, IMHO this is the virtual bookshelf:

Yeah they have amazing battery life when you're used to smartphones that need recharging on a daily basis :-)

all the ebook readers have sick battery life.. you wont really need to worry abuot it since they dont have backlights...
kindles sell cheaper versions which have ads... theres little fixes you can get which remove or diable them so u shud be ok...

imo theyre all great things.. worth looking into.

pdf are horrible format though mate. horrible. its kinda similar to computer screen for reading them you have to scroll through them, zoom in on places if small text, etc...
all books will be going to .mobi or some other formats sooon i guess...

You can also use option 'Google Shopping', very handy for these kind of things :)

Google.com Shopping (better to use option in your own country to find the shops with lowest prices :))

I'm ordering my Kindle4 after the weekend, can't wait to get it. :)
Will be a huge relief, especially for my shelves [no more place for books] and my spine [carrying 300-400 pages books in a bag isn't really healthy]

I hope I won't be disappointed. Just one more question - is it possible to make notes while reading? or maybe not notes, but underlining words etc? when I read books in English I like to underline words that I don't understand and later on write them down in word, print and learn :P

yeah you can add notes to stuff.. my gf was doing it, but didnt have the keyboard one, so looked a lot of effort..
imo your best bet for notes is write them on something seperate i guess.. unless you get the keyboard version as i said.
ill probably order one soon also, although i never really read so kinda hafnt for that reason :D

mkay, I got my kindle...and well...hm...

it's freaking awesome :D money well spent

You can underline, but you can also read a "pop-up" definition of the word you don't understand in real-time :D
But since you got it, you probably know all this and more by now :P

One minus so far: 'The daily offer' does not include Polish [European?] users

I guess it is possible to omit it by registering the account as a US citizen...?

Anyway, I'm still impressed :p finally my spine will rest, not having to drag big books everywhere I went :p
