Well this one could have been a penalty. But Ireland made several elbows (one against the keeper!) the rule is to give for that a yellow card, but nothing happened.

Clear elbow should be red always I tought ?

Sure I am a hater ... I dont give a rat's ass about any of those 2 teams :P Maybe I like Ireland more because they play in green and you have a prat called Perisic ... but I think that is it. Ref was weak, but surely not purely one way biased.

He's a supporter of the other Bruges. The weak ones, the greens.

He is a great player footballskillwise (if he doesnt have one of his totally sucky days), not characterwise ... which is for me as important to be a fan of a player.

Yup, that should have been a penalty even though it was on the ball. I suspect that referee didn't want to award such not 100% clear penalty because it happened while the Irish refused to throw the ball out while Mandžukić was lying down after an unruled foul.

And overall, Croatia has much more to complain about the referee. Foul criteria was very uneven. Referees didn't protect our players from very tough tackles and he awarded to Ireland quite a few that were not so clear. Our goalie got a knock-out elbow to his head (red card), Perišić suffered a knee to his kidney, Mandžukić and Jelavić were held and beaten constantly. On the other hand we had come clear on the ball tackles ruled as fouls when our dangerous attacks were about to happen and some quite mild hand contacts also ruled as fouls including the one from which we conceded the goal.
