Yeah but IMO, that risky move was very good morale boost for his teammates after Montolivo's miss, it also might have affected England's confidence.
No it's not what football is about, doing 50-50 or 66-33 (at best) move when you can do it normally with 95-5 is utter stupidity.
I agree. Italy was headed to defeat until Pirlo showed his contempt for that madly cheerful goalie. Hart lost confidence as a result and most importantly, it showed.

Penalties are always bets. Is what Pirlo did more risky than what Montolivo or Cole did? At least Pirlo couldn't miss the goal, so it was all about deceiving the keeper :P
But there are 50-50 and 95-5 bets, he was just lucky that positive outcome for him came tonight and not in that friendly against Barca.
My point is that you are making up those probabilities to suit your argument :)
