It's not because it sounds the same for you that it is the same ;-) Chinese and Japanese sound the same for me too, but that doesn't make it the same.

if you know english you can easily understand lots of german words and once you get the difference then it need few times to understand lots of dutch words

this is just my opinion of course, but I don't study german or dutch and still understood many german and dutch words when I was in Berlin and Amsterdam

and ramstein of course :-D

Of course, they are very much alike. I understand a lot of German words (although my German is very bad, only basic in fact) just because of the fact that I speak Dutch. But when you look further, they are really different.

Btw, I think Dutch is quite a difficult language to learn. And I think Dutch sounds very 'flat', it's not very enthousiastic or joyful (like Italian).

well I understand really lot of spanish and lot of french just because I'm italian but there's a big difference

from what I noticed english and german for example have similar pronounciation but different way to write it while italian and spanish have similar way to write it but different pronunciation

From listening to the language I assume German is not very beautiful, but if you go "deeper" and read German literature in the original you will realize pretty quick that it is beautiful in its own way. Several words and meanings are not possible to translate exactly in other languages if you read original german literature. And Heinrich Heine, Goethe, Schiller and so on are the most beautiful in the original.
I have also read other authors in their original languages but none came even close to the german ones I read.
