it seems that studying in "big" countries is expensive

here:
~70€ for accommodation per month (I live "close" to my faculty so I pay only for monthly ticket, 32€)
~20€ for food per week
~10€ for extra costs (drinks with friends, copying stuff etc)
and 50€ per semester for faculty

unless I go out with friends for a dinner/partying, which happens at least once a week

Same. That's not included.
~10€ for extra costs (drinks with friends, copying stuff etc)

Well, in Leuven we have something that is typical for only Leuven (in Belgium): the so called faculty bars. They are just bars in town (not at the campus) ran by the faculty praesidium. It's very cheap, one euro for one beer. So you'd end up with maximum 10 beers in a week here. Then you shouldn't be called a student :p
a cup of coffee here is 0,5€.. lemonade 0,75-1€... beer, dont know :D... I dont drink that :P

so 10€ in a week here is enough (at least for me :D)

Well, if you'd stuck with those 10 your nickname would not have been 'wasted ****' would, it? :)

Beer - Student crap you mention, that's the relevance. Though maybe you were asking yourself the relevance of your question ...
