Subject: Network Marketing
Just a facepalm 'cause you're posting in a 'Marketing' topic while you find it boring. I mean yeah, makes sense right.
What is network marketing, exactly?
It depends on who you talk to.
I’m serious!
Talk to someone who joined a network marketing opportunity, learned the ropes, took action and went on to build a wildly successful business that pays them a solid six-figure, even multiple six-figure annual business and they will tell you:
“Network marketing is the greatest opportunity in the history of mankind for the average person without a lot of money to invest to become financially free.”
Talk to someone who has joined a few different opportunities over the years but who never really got in and “did the work” required to build a business and they might say something like this:
“Network marketing doesn’t work. The only people who make big money are the people who get in early.”
So who is right? And if you think about it, neither really answers the question: “What is network marketing?”
What is Network Marketing?
According to Wikipedia, network marketing is way of doing business in which a sales force earns a commmission not only for sales of products and services they personally generate, but also for the sales of others they recruit and bring into the business, which creates a downline of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple leveraged levels of compensation.
Whew. What a mouthful. Let’s break that down into something that makes more sense, shall we?
You realize you will never get rich working for someone else. You also know there are huge lifestyle benefits associated with building a success business:
You can pick the people you work with.
You can work from home part-time in your spare time.
You can pick the hours you work and how much you work.
You can give yourself an IMMEDIATE raise through tax savings.
You have the chance to literally set yourself financially free.
So you decide to investigate joining a network marketing company because of the low cost of entry and all the training and support you get. But what are you really getting yourself into? What is network marketing, exactly? Here’s the deal…
When you join a network marketing company you are “signing up” to represent that company’s product and services and business opportunity.
You “sign up” by making a small investment (usually $500 to $1,500) and by completing an Independent Distributor agreement. You are not being hired by the company as an employee but, rather, you are volunteering to represent the company as an independent contractor, business owner, dealer, representative or consultant. You are awarded a commission based upon the volume of product sold through your own sales efforts as well as that of their downline organization.
In other words, to make money you need to personally sell stuff AND teach your team to sell stuff because you earn commissions on the AMOUNT of product that moves through your new business.
It depends on who you talk to.

Ok. Thx a lot for having explained what it is
I know it in France as called : "Ventes pyramidales".
I'm not a fan at all of this type of marketing actually. I don't think it is a fair maket for the sellers (traders ?). The older you come into this type of company, the easier you earn money... Not fair at all for me.

But not always if you are older than me in the company you sould earn money easier..
At least, in the right Network Marketing is not so..
If you arrive to earn money, mean that you work a lot in the past..
nothing come to nothing..

Quoting someone with a relevant opinion is nice. Having an opinion yourself is better ;-)
I hadn't enough time to make a complete post on this issue, and now still don't have that time.
And

I'm not an expert in marketing so my opinion would be quite useless. I just wanted to point a dude that knows about this more so OP can get more info from his books for instance.

Totally agree with that but i prefer to see 100 sellers with the same market (same level or step) to "fight" fairly to gain the market instead of this network marketing advantaging older sellers with time.
Actually there isn't anything unfair in it. Nobody makes anybody do the 'ant job', the least paid one. It is a choice. And yes, in most of those to make good money you have to be the main guy in your destination.
Having said that, most of those who make the actual selling in NM are extremely frustrating when they 'attack' you on the street, trying to sell you perfumes and such, at first claiming that it's for free, it's a promotion etc.

It's not a pyramid system, StefNihon :) This is about using your network to help a company and getting rewarded for that. For example, you work at a store and nominate a friend for a job application. He gets hired. Then you will get a small bonus for nominating someone in your network. It helps both you, your friend as the company.

I don't talk about fairness about those who choose this market way... It is thir choice as soon as they decided to enter into... It would be unfair if all market would be like that. And it is unfair intrinsically with the fact that the most recent user has to make all the job not for himself but for the older ones too... As the older ones and him normally make exactly the same job.

ahahha... i don't attack anyone on the streets.. :D
i trade coffee, and if you could be interest to try this send me a skmail...
but... we're here to speak about network marketing in general, not about single company.. :)

Theres a pyramid stuff part though. The higher you are (ie the more 'ants' and 'subants' you have), the more you earn.

Or i don't know what is a pyramid system or what you talk (and the topic maker) is clearly a pyramid system. The odler "player" earns his own money with his own work. Then you recruit someone who earns his money and give back a few to the one who has recruited him and so on...

Stef, if you give it a minute of your thought, it is exactly how any marketing, selling, trade etc. works.
You can start your own shop and be the guy who employs others - and then THEY work for YOUR incomes, while they are getting much less than you are. Then, when you are successful, you open a franchise and other people open their shops under your logo, hiring their own employees. And it goes on...

Langhe, please tell me in what kind of selling [of products and other stuff, like legal advice etc.] it doesn't work this way? It is a simple corporation model, the higher you are and the more people work for you, the more you earn.
