Subject: Freekick dead

I don't know if anyone played this game. I had an account long time ago and occasionally logged in but the game is dead. Unbelievable if you have invested years of your time and money.

Games come and go, nothing will last forever :/

I played for a long time. I seem to have a lot more time on my hands now. I will miss it.

soon you need plus to see matches (1 year time)
plus price increases... "inflation"
all online games do this. i dont think greg sees it as huge loss and it is light income for him so maybe he will just leave it and drag on and on. numbers have been falling though and no changes have fixed that so i can see him trying to milk the last drops out of the cow before finally making changes like 10 euro for 1mill ingame currency. will kill the cow finally but make him large amount of profit before it ends

Me too, in my opinion FK was a far superior game to sokker in so many ways. I will now spend more time on my sokker and hatrick teams but it won't be the same. Very annoyed that it came with no notice as well.

Anyaway, I have never played FK, but there are some good news to the former player of that game:

I am the Creative Director and Founder of In The Dugouts, a new football management game being released very soon.

I was sorry to hear of the demise of FreeKick, a game a few people I know used to play. I know how close knit such communities can be and that many of you clearly feel a huge sense of loss.

I have today contacted FreeKick to offer our support. We would be happy to host a league specifically for FreeKick and work closely with them to recreate as much of it as we can. This would be a way of keeping all of you together, maintaining your teams, players, stadiums, staff, anything you had previously.

Many of you I am sure are looking for a new challenge in light of the sad news. We can provide that. Having played games like this myself and seen good leagues disappear and having been gutted about this myself I'd be delighted to try and keep you together.

If you're all in one place and FreeKick returns then you can of course return more easily to the site. If FreeKick does not ever return then you'd happily be welcome to stay with In The Dugouts.

You can sign up now at www.inthedugouts.com and when beta testing launches very soon we will look to create a FreeKick league for you. All team names, player names, faces and so on can all be edited and as I say I'd work with FreeKick happily to try and recreate divisions, team abilities and so on.

I sincerely hope I'm not stepping on any toes here. Given that we are soon to launch, many of you have lost your leagues or teams and FreeKick may never return then I hope I can keep the spirit of what was clearly a terrific game alive through ITD.

Well I've signed up, are there any screenshots available yet?

My main question is how you will sustain the running and development of the game if it is free? FK ultimately folded because of lack of funding and that had a paid for option
