And what is wrong in media law on Hungary ?
Their will be a commission that will investigate the media. For instance, in the news, maximum 20% of the time can be spent on crimes. Media should be absolutely free ( except for promoting violence, racism, etc. ).
But what is wrong ? Are they showing only a commerces of one political party or what ? :P
What is wrong? That the media can't choose their topics unlimited, that is what's wrong about it.
Media should be independent, no interfering by politics.

That is what I asked about :) You're absolutely right but generally you're talking about public media ? Public media are more specific than private cause always parties has a influence for them :P
Of course public media. Private media is condemnable.
In our media its always about car crashes, crimes and so on, you cant see anything good in news nowadays, this is really dull and not really good for anyone in my opinion. This 20% rule is reasonable. Media can still choose what kinda crimes to show and how long they show it. Its just that now maybe people can see the brighter side of life a bit more.
It's not the purpose of media to cheer people up, it's giving the news. Whatever that news is. You think the news here is cheering the people up? We have no government after elections in the beginning of June 2010. Still the media report a lot about it. There was a crime here ( concerning a parachute ) and sometimes 15 out of 35 minutes were spent on the trial. If the media wants to do that, it's their right.
Might be their right, but whats the point?
It should be about whats better for people, whats better for society, whats informative and useful for society. Sometimes crimes are that, but mostly not. Its just easier and less work for journalists/media stations to broadcast crimes and negative stuff than to show someones accomplishments or great things that someone did or happened during that day so that people would be more motivated, happier and thus more productive.

I guess we have a total different opinion concerning media. And the point is to be informed, both with positive and negative news.
Yeah, i´ve got more like a hippie point of view, you are more rational:P
I can understand the reasoning behind this whole idea.
The media slipped to 'infotainment': everything has to be sensational.
e.g. All that media for murdertrials( rubinho, the parachute murder)
on the other hand too much 'feel good news': the chilean miners
For me there is no need for an obliged rule but some self-regulation is possible: There is no need to fill your news with this emodramatic stuff. People also want to hear what happened to the unemployment number or with a rare animal born in the local zoo,..
A good mix of drama, economics, politics, foreign affairs and feel good would make a fine news =)

Currently the ratio of the government's politicians in the news are 83%. Hungary is slowly going towards a "single party system", just like before 1989...
I predict a really ugly half year for the EU.
I predict a really ugly half year for the EU.
So 83% of the politicians in the news are part of the government? That's way to much.
I dont think, that 20% max of crimes is bad at that media laws...but there are bigger problems... I dont know it exactly and of course I am not able to explain it fast in english, but it is something like that if they are writing something maybe "not true" or "offending" or some "political attack" or some kind of far-right opinion.. this can be penalized....
but such a judge for this can not exist...this is foolish.... If somebody will write something bad on government, he can be penalised.... this I think is the major problem, but maybe some Magyar should explain it better.....
