Well, that's more complicated. The members of the authority came from the Fidesz (the government's party) - and they'll be there for 9 years. The authority can investigate the problems reported to them - and the problems they think important (even there isn't any breaking of the rules). They have right to ask a journalist about his/her informator, and they can read every bit of information that can be found in the editorial office. Yes, even the secret ones.
If the newspaper is found guilty, they have to pay a fine, up to 25 million HUF (~90,000 €). That fine can bring almost every newspaper in Hungary to bankruptcy. It's a really dirty way to shut down part of the media, isn't it?

i'm a little bit stricter with the commercial channels. :)
i think they dont broadcast any politics, because it dosent bring as many spectator as the crimes. ;)

yes... you explain the problem well... I am very disappointed that this is possible in EU in 21 century :-(
media has big power, who control them win ! :-( We know that a lot of voters are "sheep" and media can easily change their mind to pro-gov orientation in every country :-(
They did before April. What a coincidence...
@rumpil: it's possible in Europe too. But it was possible in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia (maybe Italy and France) in the last years...

i doubt about it.
they've showed only crimes even before the election.
and you are right, hungary isnt the only state where the actual goverment control the media...
