Braga 2 - 3 Spurs

Keane 57, Malbranque 72, Paulo Jorge 76, Ze Carlos 81, Keane 90

Bit lucky to get a late winner, but thought it was a good game and maybe we did enough to get the result :)

And here are the goals: click

IMO Newcastle is in second round.

Maybe AZ made a bad performance, buy - hey, ask yourself, why?

Because of a good opponent. Dutch league isn't that hard, so no wonder they score a lot. But when facing a team from England, where every team plays a hard and fast footie for at least 90min, it's a completely other story! :)

Martins is a high class player, so as Duff is. I guess that after retirement of Shearer, Dyer is my favourite player.

Also Sibierski does well, I never would have thought that he'll be that good after NuFC bought him!

Btw - I wouldn't say that Newcastle has weak defence, after seeing what has AZ done! They couldn't handle a single pressing, also both 1st goals made the defs look like schoolboys! Not saying anything about 3rd, when Oba Martins runned unattacked, with 4 defs looking at him!

i think everything went right for Newcastle.......... they're still nummer eleven in the premiership. And AZ was poor this time, i rarely saw them play this way..........luckely they scored 2 goals so that makes things less awful.

Well, we kinda already mentioned it, Boukhari (and also Jenner) had a very bad performance. But when I mentioned the productivity of AZ, I was only talking about European matches, that productivity is 2.75 goals per match. For sure, you cannot compare this with the Dutch league, since defence is terrible here (except PSV).

Newcastle's defence isn't that bad for English competition, but it is when you play against AZ, since every player is technical and fast (except Koevermans maybe). But hey, let's see what will happen next week, bound to be a great match :-)

The more you attack though the more you will leave yourselves open to a counter, the two full-backs looked horribly exposed last night.

It all depends which Newcastle turns up, the fired-up one, or the burnt-out one. :)

Yeah, that's true and then Martins is really dangerous. I'm kinda hoping Louis van Gaal puts Steinsson in the centre of defence next week, since he is indisputably the fastest one in defence. But if Newcastle plays as aggressive as they did yesterday, then it will be tough. If AZ can keep the ball in possession in midfield, then they'll have a good chance.

martins is a beast

i think az will go to the quarter final because a team who can beat eidhoven and ajax can beat newcastle wwhich is not from the lions of the priemership /
dont forget they play in holland i think they will win 3:1 and kick newcastles ass
