People from Poland sometimes use the word "holender" which means nothing at all but it sounds the same as "Holender" which means "Dutch". People in our ocountry use this phrase ("holender") when something is bad.

Example :
"Oh no, it is still raining. We can`t go out." means the same as "Holender(Dutch), it is still raining we can`t go out"

I`m certain that in fact there is no equivalent of this word in England :)

I don`t know why people are used to say like that. I think that they use word "holender" to avoid more vulgar word :"cholera". "Hol-"sonds in Polish language same as "Chol" but these are only my supposition. :) It's hard to explain :)

I suppose you are wrong.
"Holender" means only Dutch. If you something bad happens you will say "Cholender!"
Word "Cholender" was made from word "Cholera" and its "light vulg";)

For non-polish:
In our language words "Holender" sounds same as "Cholender"
Because there is no diffrence in saying "H" and "CH".
So in pronunciation "Holender" and "Cholender" are the same word:)

"I am holiday for 2 weeks from monday and I hope to have abation when I return.
wayne"

What does he mean with 'abation'?
2007-06-17 20:13:37
"to abate" means "to lessen". However, I have never heard of the word abation, plus "lessening" wouldn't make any sense in this sentence, either. What was the conversation before that?
2007-06-17 20:34:09
I thought that 'abation' didn't exist, so probably I'm right.

We did not have a conversation before. He's my ally in a strategical game where you send your turns three times a week. He'll be on holiday and be unable to control his nation, which will be become very vurnerable if he stays away for two weeks.

La dulce boca que a gustar convida
un humor entre perlas destilado,
y a no invidiar aquel licor sagrado
que a Júpiter ministra el garzón de Ida,

¡amantes! no toquéis si queréis vida:
porque entre un labio y otro colorado
Amor está de su veneno armado,
cual entre flor y flor sierpe escondida.

No os engañen las rosas que al Aurora
diréis que aljofaradas y olorosas
se le cayeron del purpúreo seno.

Manzanas son de Tántalo y no rosas,
que después huyen dél que incitan ahora
y sólo del Amor queda el veneno.

Easy. Freetranslation.com says:

The sweet mouth that to like invites
a humor among pearls distilled,
and to not invidiar that sacred liquor
that to Jupiter minister the waiter of Departure,

Lovers! do not touch if want life:
Because between a lip and another
red Love is of its armed poison, which
between flower and flower snake hidden.

You not the roses they deceive that al Aurora
you will say that aljofaradas and odorous they fell him
themselves of the purple breast.

Apples are of Tantalus and not roses,
that later flee dél that incite now
and only of the Love remains the poison.

Hello can a German speaker translate the following, it's for a assignment at school the substitute teacher told me that I have to talk with her in german tomorrow, and the subject is why my cat's name is ajax. :)

==================================================
My mum said that,t he little girl of the previous owner, named the cat Ajax. So we decided to keep this name. Apart from that my mother and I indeed like the football club Ajax. So it wasn't my mum who decided to call him Ajax, as I said the previous week.
