Subject: »[idea] Second Nationality

A foreign player would eventually aquire the nationality of the club/league/country in which he plays after five years of permanency in that club/league/country (he could be selected for the National Team, then, if it wasn't already selected or capped for the National Team he is originally from); and/or, alternatively, assign a random second nationality, with a small percentage of probability, when the player enters youth system, with the name of the player resembling one of the country he comes from (example, Mario Barwuah Balotelli!); i know there are "much more important things to implement", but i'm just curious of your thoughts on the matter!
no it would take all of the smaller countries players away as most of them play abroad
You're right, but it wouldn't be obligatory; if the player is really strong, by the time he aquires his second nationality, it would already be selected for his original NT! If not, then it would be his original NT staff "fault"; It is only for adding a bit of realism and fun to the game in my perspective!
The part regarding youth system would also help NTs with a small amount of users, for increasing the number of players with those nationality, like it was already said on another idea regarding international youth schools...
it will be in Football Manager , the player can get the nationality but if he playes for his home country at least 1 game he wont be able to play for the 2nd country :)
Well in anouther game i play, you get new youth players every week, i pulled 1 chap who straight away was English but he had dual nationality with ireland (a smaller country in the game) so he got better and ended up playing for ireland, so i suggest that a few players come from the junior school with a random dual nationality, so like for English teams players could hve dual nationalities with scotland, wales, ireland etc.. and teams from america could have many dual mexicans, jamaicans etc.. you get my drift?
and then countries like estonia ana poland would be unbeatable
Well in anouther game i play
name of the game?????
name of the game?????
Disagree
I remember a user proposed a better idea: foreing youthschool... which it means every Saturday you can have a chance to receive foreign youth players...

Well, I find it more helpful to little countries:
Player will play for his original country, if wanted. That means, that if you have a really good foreign player in Poland (for example), he would ofcourse play for his original NT, not Poland NT.
But same time, if you have a good foreign player from Estonia in Camerun, who isn't enough strong to play in Estonia NT, he could play for Camerun NT instead.

Yes, there's no way this idea would benefit the big countries, they don't need to look anywhere else for talent.
The problem would be that a lot of the small to medium nations would end up with a smorgasbord of Italians, Poles, and Romanians as their "national" team.

This idea makes me smie! :)
I think that small countries would also benefit of it.
Here are some more suggestions about it:
(1) Not every player should take a second nationality. There must be a random factor of 50%.
(2) Players in age of 16 to 21 should be able to gain the natonality of the country they play, no matter how long they play in the new country.
(3) Players older than 21 should at least play for 5 seasons in the new country.
(4) They should have no international game with their old country.
I believe it can be implemented in the game and it is like it happens in real life.

Thank you for reviving this dead thread. 3 years ago I missed it, so I now I have my chance to vote NO. :D
Which REAL benefits could it bring to them? Could you ellaborate a bit? Why couldn't it result in more harm than benefit? Have you read all the previous posts? Because I think there are some points there, currently as valid now as then, to consider that the proposal could not be a good idea...
