Subject: [IDEA] Odd team in junior leagues

SInce from time to time there appear complaintsin our forums from managers whose teams in the middle of the table (and so, yet with options to play for the promotion, for instance) have their junior teams 'choosen' not to play a determinated week, and so be 'PENALIZED' with an automatic loss (0 points) that week, it could be deserving to ask for the managing of these sitiations to be revised and somehow fixed.

A good possibility (athough it can have some complexity to implement) could be to ensure that all junior teams have their match, with the creation of a 'reserve team', which would play against the odd team which has not rival that week.

This 'reserve' team would be the exact clon, in players, tactics and orders, of one of the other of the league. It would't be a real team, whith real players (their would be 'clons' from those of another team), but only the set of match orders used for a match, as that would be its only objective.

Toose match orders could be scheduled, so the odd team could place its orders, and the match orders of the rival (this is, the composition and tactic of the 'resrve team') choosen and placed before the junior matches, cloning those of either from random team, of from one of the teams which should correspond according to the odd team¡s position in the table. The match so would be played, and the odd team would get the points from the result.

These matches, obviously, would player always at the stadium of the 'odd team', as the cloned rival would have not one.

This way, the odd team would not loose anything, as would have the option to a 'normal' and fair match, gaining (or not, if it looses) the corresponding points, so everybody in the league could play and nobody to get penalized without match. The 'reserve team', not being a real team (it has not to appear indeed in the league table), would get nothing, and the following week it could be a totally diferent one, generated to play vs the 'odd team' of that week.

---------------------------------------------

If it were too difficult to implement something as above, there could be a couple of simple possile alternatives, without too much complexity, that could be implemented quickly:

1. - to give the odd team 1 point that week, as if it had tied (0-0 vs a 'no-team'). At least, to some extent it would be fairer than assigning it an automatic loss (0 points) without giving him any option to prove it is a deserving (or not) result. This is the possibility which probably should take less work to do, but does not eliminate the problem of the 'odd team' to be choosen randomly.

2. - to modify the system to choose as the 'odd team' ALWAYS the last team in the league table, and giving him either 1 point as above. This way the team 'harmed' by the situation would not ever one of the ones above, and at the same time the last team would get a point whcih could allow to go up some position (if at least other with similar number of points loses its match) and have the option to play match next week, as the last team would be another.

It could be stated about this last option that it can be against the last team, but on the other hand it can be said that this way it always would 1 point, when it could get none otherwise, and which could help it lo leave that position. And also this way it would not be harmed any team which could have yet expectations (by wining) to fight to go up, maybe to get into the promotion partr, or to leave the relegation one. In the end, the thing is to ponder if this would be a better option than to 'penalize' a random team by lottery. Imho, I think this option would be the best one.

How fun! With two matches remaining, and being in position to avoid the relegation, this week 'the system' has decided that my junior team deserves to relegate and loosing the option to fight for staying.

Completely unfair. And worse, it seems that nothing is going to be done to enhance the junior matches system and avoid such injustices!
