Subject: [idea] Play-off final to be the champion

Hello everybody,

I want to propose a new and great idea.

The championship could be win by a PLAY-OFF final match.
The 1st VS the 2nd in the group.
And the winner is the champion of season in this group.

During the season the championship happens normaly as now.
At the end we have the 1st and the 2nd.
But the champion is the winner of the final PLAY-OFF match.
The suspens is still kept until the end of the season if the 1st team and the 2nd team in the group are equal styrength.

Yeah.: let's forget and discard the results of 56 matches across the season, everyone playing vs everyone across the full season, and decide things in a quick play-off.

But I wonder, why ONLY 1st vs 2nd? Why not 2nd vs 3rd, 3rd vs 4th, and so on? And why not making it in cascade, so 8th could become 1st (and vice-versa), like in a burble algorhytm?

Then I take a look to the historicals, and.... ahhhh, weeell... I see.

As your team has been finishing in 2nd place the last three seasons, I understand the motivations of your proposal: as your team is uncapable of winning fairly and even, it would be a good thing (for you) to forget all the season (except the part which allows you to get the 2nd place), and let things to be decided in a single match, where luck (injuries, red cards, ME...) could give you what you are not able to achieve working during a full season.

And the teams in third, fourth, etc, places... let's they are they are. Anyway, they are not YOUR team. Aren't they?

So, I have to say NO to this idea. Not because it be absurd and nonssensical (in fact it is), but because changes which would affect all of Sokker to simply benefit a (or a few) individuals exclusively, should be discarded at once and without consida¡eration (imho, of course).

Normally it's a play-off with the four teams at the top of the group.
A sort decide wich team against the other, two round semi-final an the final.
But we don't get enough time if it happens during the qualification match.
If it happens in two matchs it's possible.

Here I suppose it happens in one round, we must have just the final match, between the 1st and the 2nd.

The red card and injuries are kept.

That happens really in rugby in France and in Basket-ball, and the champion is the winner of the play-off game.
The suspens is most high and it's an great event.
I prefere that kind of planning.

It is as if in Spain you have a final between Real Madrid and FC Barcelone to decide who is the champion.

This is a real idea from some other sport like rugby, basket-ball ...
But i don't like it so much for sokker but ...

What about a final phase beetween all champion from a same div? (Not for first div. of course)

A problem of date perhaps?
Why not the best first champions ... best 2 or 4 champions (1 or 2 dates) etc ...

Why not using the thursday (it's just for CC so for first div. champions ... Perhaps a problem if a team win the national cup without being in first div ...)

It is not for a final of all champions from the same div. Only for the champion in his group.

Just one match more, at the time of the qualification. And the qualification happen in the following week.

I won all games, had 12+ points more than 2nd place in my league

in your idea I would still have to play a 'final' game against 2nd place in my league....why?

I understood what you mean, but i was proposing another idea ;=)
Nevermind, in one date, the 2 best champions in a div could play for being the div. champion.

Because there is a sunday without match in a season i mean

I never really liked it after implementation, and I think play-offs is something which doesn't belong in football competitions (a season has enough matches to decide the champion), it is part of other sports.

And I agree with borkos007, play-offs for championship really makes no sense and is a bad idea, also for Sokker.

If it's an add-on I understood better. Yes It can be a great challenge to be the best of the div.

so I can lose the championship just because I had bad luck in one game, after the season which I clearly won?

If structure would change into 1,2,4,8,16 etc groups by div. it were a possibility for more suspens because:

All first team in a groupe will be promoted in upper div. instead of 7th and 8th team from upper div
and ...
all second teams in a group will play qualifications against 6th an 5th from uppr div.

With 12+ that means you win since more 5 weeks.
I don't guess that you will loose your final match.

And between the 5 week untill the end, your champioship has no more interest.
It's boring for others teams and particularly for you.
Me in that case I should feel it boring.

This is why a league is a league and a cup is a cup. This idea it's not good and it will complicate the schedule

No it is not complicate. The qualification week become the final match and it's all. Simple isn't.
And the qualification match begin at the following week, which is free.
Why nobody didn't think about it ?
It's the solution.
