Well, imho the game is about tactic and skills.

So you should be able to have success either with good tactics or with (much) better players.


If the gap was smaller, only tactic would be important and the skills wouldn't really be important anymore...

it doesn't make any difference if the opponent gathers a 'missed goalkick' from his own half or from the sideline on your half. But the first will look much nicer.

Gk really need improvement
and it is silly to see goals from almost half of terrain (especially if opponent can't have good chance for scoring goal almost whole match) or those goals when somebody is trying to pass the ball and that ball is going slowly in to the goal and Gk can't stop it.

But first we need to have more skills and after that Gk improvement and than some new tactical orders for playing style.

New skills like:
-HEADING (most important to implement because we have this random heading situation for now and very few skills for defenders that are important,only two),
-POSITIONING (important for the Gk also,and they can implement little movement for players in situations when ball is out of play like throw in or kick off so players can tray to get better position to get ball and in other situation. it's not tactical discipline,td can be only for tactic),
-MARKING (important for def,dm and only if they change ME and implement some tactical orders like zone defending/man marking),
-CROSSING (important i think because it's not passing and crossing the same skill,need to be different. position for all player using side),
-STRENGTH (why not to see different players,some can be more injured if they are weak or just lose ball if challenge strong player),
-WORKING rate or some personal skill like PROFESSIONALISM (two games,one with low rank team and other with high rank and more professional player will play both at high level but if has low prof skill than he will play better against high ranked team but not at his best against low ranked team),
-LONG SHOTS (why not,it's different if you know how to shot from the distant,you need power,accuracy,not like if you are close. if they implement individual tactical orders like long/not long shot that can be interesting).

We need change in tactical orders (some can be individual for players) like:
-HARD/SOFT/BALANCED TACKLING (really important for the future of this game to have option to setup order like this and have benefits from that like more or less injured players or better tackling etc...),
-LONG/SHORT/BALANCED PASSES (many tactical possibilities with this,it would be good idea that i can tell players to play more long balls even if my striker is not too far from other players...),
-PRESSING/NORMAL/CASUAL (direct influence on stamina, at least like conditional order like "in 80' if loosing start pressing"...),
-PLAY MORE TO WINGER/IN THE MIDDLE (that would be great so we can have our tactic and style of playing,really changing game to be better),

i can think many other and i know bla,bla...
but important is: new skill-heading and improving GK and after that new tactical orders (at least for team only,conditional like now)

For some reason, my player with average striker (good pass) hits headers with rocket force, like if i got a player on fifa and edited his headers to 99. (1-0, i think) a bullet crosses 20 yards in half a second, only to bounce of a post then then be turned in by my striker :0) Then from an awesome corner, newitt does exactly the same thing, but it goes in.
I love it when goalie speeds suck. 10%ish of my goals (3-4ish) have come from along pass rolling (slowly) over the line.

I wrote this nearly 2 years ago. It's still right at the top of my wishlist...

Can this please be fixed? I have never seen a GK in real life gather a ball on the corner of the box, run back to goal, then run back to the corner and kick the ball. I don't know why it was implemented that way, but I'd really like to see the GK's movement improved.

Maybe he could walk towards the top of the box while making up his mind on where to boot it.

I'd put it right at the top of the list of things to implement if it were my choice, 'cos it's one of the really obvious issues. :)

I agree with Vivski.

I already was losing a game and it didnt matter in the final score.. but I still gave a goal due to the goalie kicking and the other team kicking it right back towards the goal and getting in before the goalie got back between the posts.

Plus... as it was mentioned. it is very unreal to have the goalie run to its own goal before kicking the ball.

IMO, it's still the most obvious potential area of improvement in the game. GKs have a long way to go and I hope they get an upgrade soon. :)

I think throw in are the most obvious area needing improvement

currently they are independent of skill
always to totally predictable
and the opposition make no attempt to close down

You're right, the throw-ins are another area that's overly formulaic.

Have you played FIFA 2010? I mention in because over the years FIFA has gone from a pretty jerky and restrictive gameplay to a very fluid one. That kind of natural fluidity is what's missing in SK at the moment. The new animations did great things for the feel of the game.

I hope SK progresses in a similar direction, with more natural throw-ins, AI decisions and runs, GK movement, etc.

It's a kind of something going to a complete vision what you've been saying, I think also that this is the right way to improve the game, that's why I think the devs. and greg should take professionals of the real football close to them when they improve the game.

Yes, it's pretty obvious the necessity of improving GKs features but in correlation with other corrections of some features here non-specific to real football. For instance, I never see in sokker the player protecting the ball and keeping it for his own team possession by avoiding a straight challenge with an opponent player, you know, you need it sometimes when there is a danger of a counterattack. And some others also.

Funny that this still happens. Still looks silly.

Would still like to see GK movement improved:
- step forward when the ball is in opposition's half,
- no delay between taking a goal kick and moving back to his goal line,
- when picking up the ball, kick it from near the penalty spot, not from where he picked it up.

May be one of these days this could be fixed... we hope... but it is boring to have again this king of action...
We could believe that devs wants discourage us... but we are too patient.
