Fair call. The fact is New Zealand are through after Lietuva smashed a pretty ordinary Danmark tactic 7-1.

Yup, and gives Watts a chance to redeem himself after injuring himself in the first WC game.

Congrats on a solid win. Well deserved.

The tight 4 at the back was very effective. I thought the winger might be a problem, but Kilkenny did a good job on him (plus the winger's passing was awful when he did get free). Slovensko's passing as a whole was not as good as I expected.

The last match in our group is of little importance. We are already qualified for the next round. If we want to play a less strong team in that round, we have to end first. In that case we have to beat Lithuania. Not an easy task, even with our first team. On the other hand it also important to avoid suspensions and injuries. At this moment our wise coach is considering which option he must choose. It will probably be a mix of first team players and some back ups.

Lithunia started unconvincing at the WC. They won 3-4 in a match they should have lost. Last week they did a lot better. They crushed Danmark with a stunning 1-7. They seem back on the right track.
In the last Cup they got to the semi finals, where they met losing finalists Spain. Their team hasn’t got any younger, but is still an outsider for the title.

They have some troubles with injuries. Palmileras, scorer of a hattrick last week, is slightly injured. Figurinas, Juknys, Korsakas, Zopelis and Liesys too. A lot of their players are one yellow card away of being suspended. I don’t see Sillu (call him Silly if you want ) taking any risks. He probably counts on winning without his key players.

Good news for New Zealand! Only Kilkenny and Watts are unavailable. It is possible that Watts will be recovered on time to play in 1/8 finals. Players that have two yellow cards already will most likely not play.

Sillu is very silly indeed!

GL to NZ!

I don't know about not using the yellow carded guys. It might be an idea to play a couple of them and get the reds out of the way. It would be a bummer to see Chadwick and Hird gets reds in the same week.
Besides they have the same problem except worse.

Go for the win :) and top of the group

2008-03-22 11:46:39
at least some good news! :)

tactic was just bad today, didn't think he'd play 2 wingers :( but ok ..
2008-03-22 11:48:32
bodger was really really really bad today.. didn't do anything right.. his best days are over.. the tranfer has gone to his head probably

Yeah, 11 Wise Men didn't want him anymore so he must be crap!

Or he just misses hanging out with his maori friends who used to bash the opposition when they got too smart.

Btw, how much was the referee paid? Calling halftime just as (Atkinson?) was making a dash down the wing
