Seca [del] to All
Greetings! I suspect many of you already know me. I’m Seca - a 30-something math teacher living in Southern Ontario, Canada.

I’m a very experienced manager - entering my 12th season. All but one (this past season :P) have been championships. I also have extensive experience as an NT manager - having the privilege to have served 5 seasons leading Team Canada, and another 2 at the helm of New Zealand.

Along with experience, I bring energy and enthusiasm to the job. I feel my communication skills as an NT manager are second to none - and think this is essential in the role of NT manager, as the NT is a great vehicle for building forum activity and community spirit.

Tactical diversity is one of my hallmarks. My tactics are constantly evolving, and I’m rarely satisfied trotting out an old formation. I’m not dictatorial about tactics or line-ups - I often seek out members of the community for advice and input.

There are two compelling reasons NOT to vote for me.

The first is that I tend to be a little snake-bit when it comes to the “big game”. For example, in the past 3 World Cups New Zealand has advanced to the group of 16 in two of them. The other time the team finished 4th. Who was managing that team? You guessed it. ;)

The second is that I have already had several opportunities as an NT manager. It is a great job, and there are obviously a finite number of positions. It may seem unfair of me to pursue the chance again when I’ve already “been to the trough” a number of times. Should either of these reasons strike a chord with you, I will completely understand you voting for someone else. :)

In truth, I had planned for this past season to be my final one as an NT manager. Unfortunately I had some personal problems and health issues that diminished the experience. Those are behind me now, and I would really like to go out on a higher note. I also really enjoy the New Zealand community, and find it hard to resist the chance to be more involved.

Should you find me suitable, I would appreciate your support. :)

Well this was unexpected =p

A little for me too. :) A month or so ago I wasn't feeling very good - I really had no thoughts of continuing as an NT manager at that point. But I've been feeling much better in recent weeks. :)

The current managers of New Zealand did the next manager a favour by getting the team into the second basket for group drawing. In theory, qualifying should be easier then the last time. In theory. :)

If memory serves, the group drawing happens this weekend.

do you start feeling the pressure on your shoulders??

do ya? :D

I haven't been elected. Pretty much stress free ATM. :D

As always, the group draw will determine how stressful the qualifying campaign is. Being a #2 is great, and means the identity of #3 is key. And there is wild variation in quality in the 3rd basket. One could get formidable Australia. One could also get Cameroon or Tunisia, which are essentially bot teams.

yeah new teams entering points really bug me, we got shoved to a 4th seed last time because of it. 1600 is too high for starting sides these days. Draw will be vital to a lot of teams.

What do you think of David Watts comment?
2008-05-30 13:08:33
I think he's been nursing those grudges a long time. :)

I'm not sure injuring either of us would be a particularly difficult feat. Bodger isn't exactly made out of titanium. And I've been to the Emergency Room more then once with sports related trauma. :P

Did his wage take a little jump? 17k is pretty respectable for a well rounded defender.

His wage is still quite low compared to Mathey!

100% of the votes.

Congratulations Seca.

Thanks everyone for your support. If you haven't checked the election yet, then I'll break the news - I've been elected to manage New Zealand's national side this season.

It should be a very interesting season. Qualification is by no means assured. But with support and co-operation from the New Zealand community, I'm very optimistic. :)

Thanks ... and congratulations to you for your strong mandate. Best of luck this season. :)
