Subject: [NT] World Cup Prop Contest

I like to run a few contests to help generate NT interest and forum activity.

Some people will be familiar with this contest. For each World Cup match this season, I will write a list of 10 propositions. Contestants simply answer "yes" or "no" to each of the predictions about the match. There will also be a tie-breaking question so that each leg will have 1 winner. At the end of WC qualifications, the champion is crowned.

(Should two players be tied at the end, I will look at who has the most second place finishes, then third, and so on, until the tie is broken).

I'm somewhat limited to what I can offer as a prize - so same old. The winner will get to select a player for New Zealand's week 1 match (opponent yet to be determined).

Note: when I write the proposition, I'm ideally trying to state it so 50% say yes and 50% say no. Please don't take any propositions as negativity about a given match. :D

Estonia Propositions

1. A goal (either side) will be scored in the first 10 minutes.

2. A foul will be called before the first goal is scored.

3. Estonia will score the first two goals.

4. New Zealand will score at least 1 goal.

5. Estonia will win by 3 or more goals.

6. There will be 4 or more shots off the woodwork (both teams combined).

7. A goal (either side) will be scored in the last 10 minutes.

8. There will be an injury (either side) during the match.

9. New Zealand will be shown 2 or more cards (any colour).

10. New Zealand will be caught offside more often then Estonia.

Tie-breaker: minute of the final goal (no duplicates please - if tied, the earlier time will be chosen).

One final note: please don't edit posts. If you make a mistake or change your mind before the match, delete the original post and make a new one. :)

Yes. First bloody play of the game. So much for the defensive approach. :P

No. Conceded before anyone had a chance to get silly.

3. Estonia will score the first two goals.
Yes. Had two by minute 14. Scored 3 before New Zealand replied.

4. New Zealand will score at least 1 goal.
Yes. Bit of a squeaker by Root, but glad to have it. Really the only consolation from this match.

5. Estonia will win by 3 or more goals.
Yes. I really thought the team would hold them down. I was surprised by the margin of victory.

6. There will be 4 or more shots off the woodwork (both teams combined).
No. Two by my count.

7. A goal (either side) will be scored in the last 10 minutes.
No. Estonia wore themselves out with the early barrage.

8. There will be an injury (either side) during the match.
No. Knock free, which is good. We want Estonia in good shape for Portugal next week.

9. New Zealand will be shown 2 or more cards (any colour).
Yes. No shortage - 1 by Hird, two by Gilbert. Lots of other fouls. The tackle-tech duels weren’t in our favour. Both Hird and Gilbert get a rest next week.

10. New Zealand will be caught offside more often then Estonia.
No. Estonia with 5, New Zealand with 4.
