Heehee. Any dropped points by Estonia would have moved them from basket 1 to basket 2. I don't think they would have been receptive. :P
As for Poland, if Poland losses New Zealand is in the same basket. If Poland wins I think they will climb to the 3rd basket. That would be one nice thing about the 4th basket if the 800 (8000?) lb gorilla was in there with you.

*Spoiler warning*
Poland drew with Mexico. I don't have any idea what their A-squad is anymore, so I don't know if they put their full effort into the match. But that means they will remain a 4th basket team.
The Australia - Uruguay match is definitely worth a watch if you are looking to fill a few moments.

woooooo!!! No Poland in our group!! Go Mexico =D
I highly doubt that was their first team though, but that coach is definitely their worst.

Heehee. You are right. Apparently it was their U23s.
A fair bit of wackiness out there today with the NTs. A number of unexpected results.

Good game.
You really deserved atleast a goal since our defenders just weren't up for the challenge today. Although yeah, I didn't put our best defenders on the pitch today but that doesn't matter because all of the players who played today are still very strong (you can see Konks' stats since he is on TL and nobody in the defense line was weaker than him). So yeah, it was a bit surprise for me that you managed to get through are defenders. Luckily I selected our 2nd GK for todays match and he had enough motivation to show that he's decent :)
Guess we had a bit of luck today. I hoped that you'd play 3 center defs and 2 wide defs but what's the point of hoping if I'm not going to use the knowledge? I should have put my attackers a bit more to the wings (right in the holes between your defenders). But instead I just crammed them up your defenders arses. Luckily they still managed to get the job done.
And congratulations for qualifying to the WC. You succeeded your main goal so you can definitely call it a successful season.
See you in the WC!

You are being overly gracious (nice to see that in an NT manager :D). There wasn't any luck in this result, and I hope I didn't suggest there was with my comments. I always hope for a little more from my players. :) Estonia had many quality scoring chances, and could have easily won by more. The tactic was very solid, and Estonia's advantage in pace, tech, PM and passing were clearly evident.
Congrats to you on a well run qualifying campaign. Full points, and only 1 goal conceded is very well done. Now it will come to how lucky you are ... will you draw Poland for your group? Or maybe Iceland or New Zealand. Pretty disparate collection in the bottom basket. :)

Thanks. I agree. I think many people saw New Zealand as a favourite over Portugal based solely on a few extra NT ranking points. I really believe that was false. With ~ 1000 users they have a strong team and great depth. New Zealand's age advantage is now gone. Considering that New Zealand's only real strength is it's strikers and they were in horrible form all season, it wouldn't have been that difficult to miss qualifying. I'm happy to get into the dance.
It's hard to envision any group where New Zealand will have a legitimate chance of progressing, but both Bball and Cerb-Greiver have worked miracles in the past. It doesn't matter how ugly you are, if you can get into the dance, you might get lucky. :P

congrats for your qualification...i am happy we can go both to the WC :)
And to you. :) I thought there was a clear improvement in Portugal's play once you started whispering into your NT Manager's ear.
New Zealand is done with Portugal - being in the same basket we won't see you in our WC group. As mentioned, 12.5% chance we will have Estonia again.

congrats for qualifying and good luck with the WC campaign next season. Going to have to take out my disappointment on your side in 2 weeks instead ;).
Heehee. Looking forward to it. :)
Disappointing result for Australia. Uruguay is a respectable side - I'm really impressed with Oliwa (have been keeping half an eye on him since he was a U21 player - he seems to have a neat distribution of skills).
I thought the Australian tactical approach was good. For whatever reason the Australian midfield was really, really flat today. I realize missing your top two strikers was a big problem, but if your mids had played up to their usual level, I don't think there would have been any trouble. A shame. You did a good job this season.

Just one of those things that happen. Uruguay had 7 behind the ball for the most part, making any ball our mids had rather static. End of the day Uruguay deserved the win and were rewarded for creating more chances. Oliva is quite a player, got around our defense with relative ease and there's not a lot who can do that these days. Still a few of the misses at the death there followed by the Uruguay winner was simply devastating. We just look to build for next time, that's really all you can do.
Depending on the draw, New Zealand should have a reasonable chance of performing well, even from a 4th basket, just depends on who you draw, given all the upsets this round currently.

Yeah. Well done Seca.
Its been a frustrating season for you..us. Youve done a really good job of getting us there. GL with the next stage. Hope our strikers can improve and start putting those easy chances away. That would make things alot easier :)

Probably more important to focus on the next challenge at hand, to make sure the pissed off ozzies dont beat us in the annual trans-tasman battle!
couldn't live with that if that happened could you barhilo ;).
