Nice questions :)
If I must choose 1...passing :) why? playmaking skill make their decisions faster, but that wouldn't say that the pass will be good enough to reach the player.
The best thing for a playmaker is a nice combination between that 2 skills and not divine playmaking and poor passing :)

Question:
Why New Zealand and not Australia?
Lucky bastards :@ :P

even i could answer that one :P
@ Maqoma, what would you have done differently in the games that NZ has lost this season?
eg; against France and England, to prevent the bigger losses. to a lesser extent, Romania (though that was very close)

France: It's easier to talk about a tactic after a match ... so no offence to bball.
Johnny Bodger had a injury that day, so I prefered a tactic with 1 attacker. How do we score then? with passes from the wing attack. A other positif thing...runs from our wingers can take the France wingers to the wrong side of the field...if you know what I mean ;)
3 defenders because they play with 2 attackers. 1 very defensif mid to take the ball before the attackers or from the offensif mid (France) :)
2 backs... they can run to the center of the field...so they can give passe to the wingers or Hird.
A tactic like that:
------------x---------------
----------------------------
--x--------------------x---
----------------------------
-------------x----------------
----------------------------
----x-------x---------x-------
---------x--x--x-----------
England:
x----------x---------x
-----------------------
-----------------------
----x------------x----
----------x-----------
----x------------x---
--------x----x-------
If I look to the tactic of England, I played this kind of tactic. Wingers running near the line and playmakers more to the defenders...but for mr_gibbage, I will always have a little present :-)

are you aware that the tactic looks like a smiley face?
is this a ploy to attract potential voters by saying you're a happy person? :P

Do you think that ideally, strikers should have some playmaking and/or defending?
Why?
Why?

You'd throw the game so you lost 5-0 instead of being beaten by more I presume?

no I will ban you before you can make a tactic ;)
i guess that answers my earlier question:
'Do you think that your mod powers would be used to help NZ win'
'Do you think that your mod powers would be used to help NZ win'
I can neutralise Maqoma's powers through evil means :P.
For example, look at this match - 1227362
It could be argued that Maqoma was far too scared to face me. However, the real reason that game was a walkover was because I used the force on him, like I have done in England matches (where players have made tackles despite not being anywhere near the player they are tackling).

Strikers need striking, technique and pace. If they have some other stats, it would be a advantage.
A striker with playmaking: He can think faster. If he stand before a defender he can kick the ball or give a pass faster.
A striker with defending: That is a good player against a great team. I put the striker more to the defence, so he can take the ball from the defender en run to the goal :)

I use my mod powers every time against mr_gibbage ;-)
I deleted my tactic before I went to Switzerland...so 0-5 against mr_gibbage :(
