3-1 was a good play. If the game was on a official match I will win, of course. But I use the match for tests, why not?

I think Vilpu means that New Zealand and Australia have a big rivalry, like Brazil and Portugal, and that for a game against Australia you should have played to win, not tried something you're unsure of.

Argentina would have been the rivalry I'd have used more so than Portugal too. In saying that, you should always try to win in games you know have a strong rivalry with this being no exception. I know Australian users care a lot about this match and I'm well aware some NZ's who are as well (as they keep reminding me about Australia having lost the last 6, until Saturday :p).
Yeah NT-coaches should always try to win :-) if you for example only wants to test a tactic it might be a good idea to try it in your own friendly match or something.

You could have done a lot more to avoid defeat in the first place, is what they are all saying.
If you think that, its your opinion. I'm saying that I select the line up and the tatic to win and I'm lost because its a part of the game.
