and by the way, I was that annoying manager:P - Roza is on my team haha:)

TBH i dont remember Roza being a key role in any of the tough matches, though he does get a fetching high rating due to being subbed on and off and probably because of the high striker skill, if i remember correctly his secondaries aren't too flash.

As Seca said however, NZ have an abundance of reliable striker supplies and Roza being a fringe NT player combined with your "persistence" tipped him over the edge. From what i've seen, Seca is one of, if not THE best NT managers in sokker and i totally agree with his decision.

barhilo I know their skills too :)

Ted: I remember you as well. Haha U came to bug me (when I was nt coach)about playing Roza. I assure you we have three strikers better then Roza and Roza would be New Zealand's fourth choice.

Barhilo: :P his secondaries arent too flash, true. Maybe Linderoth with 2 levels higher technique. XD

yes, his technique is not very high but speed and striking and defending aren't too bad. I'm sorry to Seca for bothering him too much:) I never meant to offend him:)

It's not personal Ted. You are a good manager, and I'm certain the New Zealand users appreciate the effort you have put into training both Roza and Kilkenny.

I just got fatigued of repeating the same message over and over. I tried ignoring you, but that seemed to make it worse. When that failed I told you I was tired of hearing the same complaints, but they just continued. Roza's release seemed the only remaining option.

So here is the explanation of Roza's limitations one last time for everyone.

Roza's technique means he has very limited use at the NT level.
- He is not useful in a build-up offense because he can't beat defenders.
- He is not useful in a through ball offense because his technique makes him easy to tackle from behind.
- He is useful in a wing-based offense, and played most times this approach was taken. But if the tactic doesn't have a winger, New Zealand's depth at striker means there are better options then Roza.

His defending is nice, but defending is actually a pretty well developed skill amoungst New Zealand strikers. Bodger, Hird, and Hawkey all have similar tackling skills, and all have much better technique.

Further addressing the defending, there are 7 horizontal zones in the tactics window. I tend to call them (from the top of the screen) 1O-3O (offense) - 4 - 3D-1D (defense). It is very difficult to tackle an NT defender in 1O-2O - they move the ball so quickly. I consider this a low percentage play, and can't reasonably base an offense around it.

Where the defending is more useful is in zone 3O (and back), as the defenders tend to dally with the ball a little there. But Roza's technique means even if he strips the ball in zone 3O, he will be run down and tackled before he reaches goal.

I'm sorry you feel I am being impatient. I actually thought I was exercising restraint waiting this long. I am also sorry if it sounds like I don't listen to suggestions. I make a concerted effort to do so. I have interacted with a lot of managers in my time as New Zealand manager, and my guess is most of these managers would consider the interaction positive and constructive, tho I could be wrong.

So, long story short, a 25 year old striker with adequete technique is:
A) not going to get a lot of playing time
B) not a part of the team's future plans or success
C) not worth regular complaints from his manager about playing time

You seriously under value tech on strikers. That being said, he does have nice def for a striker which can make up for that.

Thank you for your looong post. Sorry for taking up your time:)

I actually prefer strikers with good technique - my second striker has a really high one and I can see a difference:) Roza is soon going to pop to magical speed - I am still pondering whether it is worth training him up to divine one or sell him and buy a striker with better technique, I don't train technique:P. but then there are no good strikers on TL :)

Bodger jumps up to formidable form! Great timing for the lithuanian match and unbelievers match =]
2007-08-02 13:56:16
I'm bidding on two defenders and LIns is still in divine form. ;) I'm ready Barhilo.

Starting keeper Kaz Taylor has reached divine (+ a little). His team plans to sell him in the near future.

So any New Zealand pace trainers who need a star keeper should have a little war chest. :)

Bahahaha, hindsight is great. Back at divine form now.

Would love to buy him and the combo of deathstrike/unbelievers/snowy/myself would definitely be able to absorb the wage but i dont have the cash atm and will probably be training tech.

For those others in div II that are thinking about it, think twice. Keeper wages can be nasty.

Edit: will ask snowy if he is interested, but dont think he will have enough..

*Just realised*

Mother club money!!!! *sees dollar signs in eyes*

Send me a message when he is on the tl :)

I wondered about BBall. Thought he'd been talking about a keeper, tho I'm not certain about what he's training.

Keeper wages can be a bit of a drag. I think he will be sufficiently expensive (7 million + my guess) that any teams that might be affected by his wages will be bid out.

Will do. Tho didn't you just buy Moerloose? How many divine keepers does one club need. :)
