Brendon Watts is transfer listed.

He is one of the players that will be dropped from the roster next week. So if interested, buy him for his stats, not his NT status.

Bit of an interesting wrinkle.

With the new NTs added the total is now 78. Which suggests 13 groups of 6 for WC qualifying.

New Zealand is currently 27th, 0.11 points behind Hungary. (Losses the last two weeks haven't helped :S). If New Zealand could sneak past them, it appears the team would be a 2nd seed for qualifying.

very interesting, hahahaha australia are at a distant 40,
2007-10-18 11:35:54
exactly, not a bad player, but not good enough for NT..
2007-10-18 11:42:14
which is why he is being dropped i'm assuming
2007-10-18 11:49:32
yea probably :) i wouldn't even let him play in my own team, but maybe coz i have great strikers ^^
2007-10-18 11:50:48
hehe. no NZ strikers there :p (anymore)
2007-10-18 14:46:14
He probably should have been dropped when he turned 22. He was able to contribute to the U21 squad, but really had no chance to play for the senior squad (given it's depth at the position).

Heehee. But only 0.26 rank points from 35th. If the speculation about the 13 groups is correct, then it's important for Australia to get a few points. Currently, they'd be a #4 seed.
2007-10-20 07:51:31
Well makes next week even more important then, you can't afford to lose the points, we desperately need them ;).
2007-10-20 08:15:44
appears it won't have any say anyway, draw appears to be made.
2007-10-20 08:17:37
It's all for naught. I thought there was another week before the WC groups were drawn. #($*#( Missed a second seed by fractions of a point.

1. Italia
2. Danmark
3. New Zealand
4. Türkiye
5. Malaysia
6. Ecuador

Not a trivial group. Turkey has some quality. Tho New Zealand beat Denmark recently, they are also a tough challenge. Qualification is not guaranteed. A deft hand may be required.

Missed a second seed by fractions of a point.

We missed a 3rd seed because new countries jump in ahead of us, who we'd absolutely put to the cleaners, so I know what you're going through.
2007-10-20 08:31:19
That's just not right. :(

I could have sworn there was another week before the groups were drawn.

This is Australia's group. Not trivial either. :( Their battle is decidedly uphilll. Argentina and Mexico are quality, and Colombia is no soft touch. :S

1. Argentina
2. México
3. Colombia
4. Australia
5. Bulgaria
6. República Dominicana
2007-10-20 08:36:48
To clarify, with 13 groups, 3rd place may not be enough. All 1st and 2nd place go, plus the top 6 3rd place teams.
2007-10-20 08:39:24
ouch, aussie has an incredibly tough group..

i agree that the newbie teams getting that many points is absolutely rubbish
