you think that is special? take a look at this :D

It is special. :) Shedding lousy form is (IMO) more remarkable then maintaining stellar form.

Save last week when it jumped to solid, Hird's form hasn't been above adequete during my two seasons in charge. It was also lousy the season before I took over. Crossing "excellent" is a landmark - hopefully he continues his climb. :)

Watts is better though :P.

A couple quick points about turning over the reins.

Normally I have a "scorched earth" policy when it comes to NT tactics (ie., as my last act I set fire to my playbook and delete all my tactics). This is in part because of a sense of propriety, and in part because the tactics I make aren't intended to be used "as is", but instead optimized with respect to forward and defense placement. But with a crop of relatively inexperienced candidates, I was considering a less destructive exit. Thoughts?

Also, my New Zealand player database is WAAAYYY out of date. I haven't really requested any player updates since the World Cup (the odd exception - and some updates have come in anyway). This wasn't due to laziness - it had more to do with my intentions to step down. So the new manager will need to reach out for fresh skill assessments. I will be happy to fill in the odd hole if some managers are slow responding, but like I said, my data is a little stale.

All the best managers update you every single time a player pops anyway :P

aw shucks =]

A good decision to keep them this time i think.

The axe has fallen ... the NT roster is down to 32.

The players cut were those listed back on page 42 of this thread (plus Kingi and Shields). I hope the new NT manager will consider these players when gathering intell - some of them are potentially quite useful and may deserve a recall - several others are icons of the New Zealand NT (Pritchett, Robben ...) and may deserve some special consideration.
