if you see the chances gilbert missed .. and every time there was a player free he didn't get the pass or a bad pass, just an off day

Bodger has a clear striker advantage in that case which is why i was wondering why he wasn't subbed in..

Even a movement of Hird into the centre

Two parts to making tactics: concept, and execution. Most matches this season I've liked the New Zealand concept, tho at times the execution has been a little ragged.

This match I didn't like the concept or the execution. :D No reason to play 5 at the back against Turkey. They never use width. They don't have particularly scary offensive weapons. The 5-3-2 was too conservative IMO.

New Zealand's defense, which played way over it's head against Italy, had a match more consistent with their norm in this one. In the end I thought the score was kind to New Zealand - Taylor played well, and the FK goal by Richards (especially considering his form) is probably 1 in a 1000. :P

Not trying to be unduly negative. The New Zealand coaching staff has done a respectable job this season. But this match isn't one to put on the resume. :)

I thought Williams might get the call for this one. Might be worth checking out if you haven't already.

Good try. You never quite know what you are getting into with U21s.

Sweden did some things right. Their defensive line placement worked well, and I thought their offensive midfielder was highly effective. It amazes me that some NT coaches either don't know how, or choose not to use red card orders. :S

New Zealand approach was interesting. The aggressive defensive line was perhaps a little ambitious considering there were only 3 of them, and they are U21s. The defense looked quite jittery. I didn't really like Perry's placement. When he moves out of the middle, the wide guy has got to step in there to fill the vacuum. There was too much space in the middle when Sweden got the ball out on the flanks. Other then that it looked pretty good to me. :)

Taylor was magnificent. I should have brought him with me. :) Root was ok (glad to see his knock is small). No one else really stood out for me.

Yeah. I had my fingers crossed it wasn't going to be another month long injury. Good to see Kingi get a run to :)
